Can of throttle body cleaner as well. With the diff oil, make sure you get a new gasket or some gasket paper, and watch the bolts. The diff housings are a little soft on borg warners and can easily be cross threaded.

Do you have to remove the diff plate on wagons to drain the diff oil? I thought they had an identical diff housing to the sedans, where you can just remove the bottom bolt, which is designed to be a drain hole?

haha, that's alright man. It's there to be laughed at. I can't say I didn't crack a smile when I was making it. If you can't laugh at the crazy misfortune in life... well... then you're probably british.

But yes, the other obvious things to do on every service interval, is take all the wheels off and inspect your brake rotors and pads - and clean/replace the grease on the caliper slides. Also regrease the front wheel bearings while you're there - it can never hurt.

Degrease everything thoroughly, and after your service, take her for a quick spin and check for leaks everywhere. Check the condition of oil hoses, water hoses, coolant hoses... and remove the drive belt, and check if all the pulleys spin smoothly.

    that's the major stuff anyway

mate for a 285,000 service you would want to be going over the entire car, checking suspension components, changing all fluids (engine/auto/diff/coolant, leads, sensors, spark plugs, air/fuel/oil filters, cleaning out the throttle body, giving the motor a degrease snd checking for oil leaks, maybe some new mufflers?

Nope. You should only have to undo the bottom bolt, and all the oil will come out through it.
