I have a good straight VPII executive V6 automatic with about 260,000 kms on the clock. Fully serviced since new, two owners. Lately has developed a fairly strong smell of coolant that can be detected inside the cabin. Temperature guage stays on about 1/3 in hot or cool weather. There appears to be a very slight pooling of coolant and oil in the recess in the manifold next to the thermostat housing but no coolant leaks apparent beneath the car after long or short runs. Any suggestions?
i had a coolant smell and it turned out to be ****ing from a hole in the heater tap hose, the one that runs from the top rear of the engine down the driver side of the bay.
i've also had a cracked header tank on the driver side of the radiator. just get the thing hot and give the hoses a bit of a squeeze.
