G'day all,
My VN is p*ssing oil out just above the oil filter I think.
There is a little shaft thing ontop of where the oil filter screws on and it seems the oil is coming out of there.
What is it? And why would oil be coming out of it??
Looks like some kinda valve
Any help would be great.
Thanks a heap.
oil pressure switch and its dead, go buy a new one, screw it in, all good.
Thanks a heap champ.
Do you know what they are worth?? Is it common or what could have caused it??
Would repco have them?
Cheers bud.
autobarn, repco, supercheap should have them, cant remember price, it is reasonably common. sometimes it can come from being knocked and fracturing the plastic, but generally the plastic just rots away over time and leaks.
i replaced mine the other day it cost me 19 buks.
sum go for 17 depends where you go
Thanks a heap fellers, appreciate it.
Oil was flowing out, thought I had rooted something bad.
its the idiot sensor :P
(aka oil pressure sensor)
no biggie aslong as you didnt run your motor dry, btw plumbers tape also helps seal it just dont go spastic with the stuff
why would it matter if you ran the motor dry? if a buick v6 loses oil pressure it automatically shuts off the fuel pump!!! just some useless info.....
Nah she still has plenty in her, prolly a little overfull if anything.
The new sensor looks alot different to the old one.
you got pics?
Nah mate, this one is black plastic sorta. The other one was a little plastic with a metal nipple sorta thing on the end.
