The engine has probably been changed by the previous owner. Just do a change of engine number. Is this the first roadworthy you've had since you owned the car?

Give him the number from the paper work. Then go and do a change engine number at the rego office.

People change engines all the time - the only time it becomes a problem is if its stolen at some time and stuck in your car.

Hmm, if vic roads need to see the engine (in the case of a registration) there will be some issues.

Take the CAI off, and have the engine number checked. Its hard to see but if you apply enough degreeser and get a mirror and some good light then you can make it out.

Supplying him with a wrong number means the roady will be wrong and then if vic roads ask to see the engine number, which they often do to ensure VIN + Engine number match paper work then your in strife.

If he cant find the engine number, find a new mechanic. Cai ant hard to move mate, 2min job.

You could get lucky and have a crappy inspector at Vicroads.

He had to check the engine no. on my bike, I showed him exactly where it was and he just got me to read it out to him anyway. Lol, I could've read him anything.

I took the CAI off and got the number, i also called the guy i bought it off just incase i have problems because you cant put a motor in unless you have proof of purchase of the motor, but i talked to the guy and he will write up a stat deck for me just incase he said the old motor died and he bought a new motor and a machanic put it in for him, so the only thing holding me back now is waiting for a stat deck to arrive :P.

You know the easiest way to get the engine number, get some blue tac or playdo and ram it into the block where the number is, it will imprint and you can read it without taking anything off!

Put the correct engine number on the roadworthy, go to vicroads, state you bought the car like that, or wait until you have the stat dec and everything should be fine.

We went to register the VN it had a different engine and vicroads didnt know. The roadworthy had its original engine number, vic roads had its second engine number, so she went out and checked it, and goes jeez josh must have blown a second one, no problems ill just update it. We got lucky though that lady was extremly nice, and shes now left, and a mole has replaced her.

But you wont have a problem getting it registered unless the engine is stolen.

I know the transport department think they are gods and as you will probably be dealing with a woman who will be highly efficient but generally never do anything outside the rules .....surely you can appeal to her better side since you are legit.....when I was registering my vr after rebuild I wanted to put my wifes name on the rego...had all the paperwork filled out with the details and waited in the long queue...........woman behind counter asked for both our licenses as proof....problem was she wasnt there....the woman behind counter said she need to sight it ....just the license and then with a smile she said I couldnt drive my car back to pick it up as it would be illegal to do it.....I was at the place they issue them and they have everything on record ...what the?....just the number wasnt good enough....had to get her to come down with it to please this woman...limited my disguist to the odd bullshirt ...finally got what I came for and went home a couple of hours later.
This is my vr that I rebuilt ....CLICK HERE to see my vr on Cardomain ......if you want to check it out......Anyway make sure you rubbish a ford daily ....I am a 4DH8RZ Club lifetime member .................new members joining everyday
