What is the physical size of the Vn front speakers?? What wattage? Are they difficult to remove??
Go the KNIGHTS !!!
i think the ones in the dash are little 4 inchers
yeah mate, they are 4 inch 100%, was gonna get new ones instlled with my new speakers today in my vn ss but the guy said dont bother, he said just get the vr-vs pods from a wreckers and wire up some 6 inches for a lot better sound.
ye there 4 inches, u could whack some 4 inch splits in there with the tweaters on the dash or something or go for the pods and have 6 inchers and just disconnect em. the ones that are already in there are pretty crap aye
Yer im in the process of doing this, it's pretty easy and with a little filing around the edges you can fit some 6x9 speakers in the pods, standard they will only fit a 6 inch, the grills themselves for the dash as far as i can remember have two screws which are in a bastard of a place right up against the windscreen. For the amount of hassle go the VR-VS pods, i got the ernite door trim from the wreckers for 30 each with the speakers and boxes included, in the process of spraying these black with the grill ocen blue, should look sweet when im finished, I'd recommend giving this try it will make your interior look so much nicer and you'll get a better sound out of the 6x9 instead of the crappy 4 inch

6x9s in the front? There bad enough in the back let alone the front. The front speakers are 4 inch but they're very shallow and they mount using 3 screws. So its hard to get another set to fit in there properly. Your best off doing as the others have said and getting the door pods. The stock speakers aren't too bad for 4's so I'd just stick with them untill you can find a set of door pods and soem half decent spekers to fit in them. 6 and a 1/2s will fit if you do some minor work to the pods. I really wouldn't bother trying to fir 6x9s in the front they're a cheap mans alternative to a sub and should only be used at the back. Look for a good set of splits or just 2 way 6 or 6.5 inch speakers for the front. Any mroe than 2 way and your basically waisting your money.
yer i agree with the 6.5 inch speakers but i already got a set of 6x9's for free so i'll see how these go, any decent wreckers should have vr-vs speaker pods, it'll make your car look so much better on the insde and sounds that much sweeter
The front speakers are 4 inch which produce 20watts in the factory. Fitting the fronts are not very hard. Goto the library find the VN manual and photocopy the how to remove front speakers.
At the moment I am using the 4 inch on the dash and the VR/VS door pods with splits and the 4 inch fills out the frequency range where the 6inch and tweeter does not give some midrange when listening to music (in my opinion).
There is nothing wrong with the 4 inch speaker in the front. Just get a pair which you can afford around $100 if you don't want door pods or use the factory one till you save up for the door pods.
Cheers
do these door pods just fit onto the old door panels? roughly got a price for 2?
he he hee.... the 4"spkrs on the dash of my VeePee are pristine....the cop that drove it prior to me owning it never used the "in house stereo"....I guess he had other things to listen to.....so when I threw the new $170 panasonic cd/ rad. in tha console, and the 2 spkrs that came with it in the back window shelf, I discovered ( read the bloody box, Rat!!!!) that it was a 4 way system........so I patched the 4" ers in...and have to drop the fader to the rear heaps, cos those little 4"ers fairly pump up!!!!!
I got my speaker pods for 30 each, that included the door trim which is of no use to (anyone want the door trim section?) the speaker boxes came with the pods, and i got the crappy factory speakers - crappy because they were all mangled and busted. Just shop around and see what you can come up with
there 4", you remove the drivers side vent (4 screws) then 1 screw for the cover to take off, then 3 screws to remove the speaker.
job done.
the speaker pods does fit on the vn/vp door trim just requre a template from the vr/vs door skin to mark the holes for the screws and the hole for the speaker. The speakers go on a pod bracket which a location is found on the bottom corner of the door. The pod mount fits perfectly on the actual door frame as if it was suppose to be there.
There was a street commodre article that tell how to do it.
It's easy to do just the slowest thing is lining up the holes.
eh ill pay some poor bastard to do it for me!
so do you guys think that 6x9s are a bit much for the front or would they be fine? cause i think they would be sweet but i got no idea so yea
I think it would be overkill for sure .. you would be overpowered by bass and lose alot of clarity to the music where your mids and tweeters would be hard pressed to overpower the 9inch cone (in a 6 x 9 )Originally Posted by A.D.I.D.A.S
yea i see your point. plus they are pretty dear. thanks man.
