my vp commy backfired through intake today not as bad as the weekend were it shattered the airbox lid ( biggest bang i;ve heard ). been doing this a bit lately and has been getting worse and is really ****ing me off. now running on petrol cos have been told that converter is probaly on its way out. it bangs the most when going uphill you can feel the car loosing speed and the temp gauge going up then bang. definitely leaning off going uphill but had the mixtures reset but that only lasted a day at the most and it backfired again today.
replaced engine computer cos that was faulty . will do coils next and the ignition module ??? thats under them as well. cars got new plugs and leads.
any idea's or thoughts guys. must say its running a treat on petrol. if i didn't do 850klm+ a week i would just run petrol.
firing sequence may be off, and firing when the intake valve is open, could be worn intake valves, dodgy coil..... few differant things, does it do it all the time?
Mine did that heaps with a cracked spark plug on LPG.
But you have changed the plugs......
The bang is insanely loud hey.
I got a pic of my exploded airbox somewhere.

hahahah oh wow, that's awesome. My VP has backfired on startup once. My boss, who is like a hundred years old, was walking past the car in the work carpark when it happened, and he nearly died.![]()
