I think you should take the distributor car off and have a look at the terminals, see how bad condition they are, then go and buy a new one and also buy a new rotor button, the thing that spins arround inside the dizzy cap. If one of the terminals isnt getting a good connection due to wear and tear then you could have a miss.

could be lower compression on one cylinder causing the miss, hard to tell without hearing it in person

m8 i have had the same problem with mine and i mean excatly the same problem to a t. I have changed what you have and still have the miss. I was thinking that it may be a vacume leak but cant seem to find one. Let me no what else you try and i will keep doing trying and will let you no.

Mine still done it after i changed the plugs and leads dont think this will be your problem. Mine had a big miss when i bought it as it was garaged and not even started in 3 years so i changed everything on it. It fixed the miss while driving but still does it when it is in park or on idle at the lights.

Does the engine make a ticking sound?

My old engine had a miss at idle until I had the valvetrain overhauled.
The miss wasnt a regular miss tho. It would idles smooth for a few seconds then have this annoying little cough and resume. Wasnt something that happened every so many seconds. Would be random almost.
New camshaft, lifters, pushrods, rockers and valves.
And the valve seats were done in the heads as well obviously with new valves.

Previously I had replaced all the same gear as you two ie: DFI module, coilpacks, leads, plugs, all the sensors, cleaned up all the earth points and cleaned out all the connectors etc in the engine bay. Still missed.
