Anyone done it? Is it easy, i tryed searching but the search sucks. Im sure i saw someones car that had it done on the forum.
Theres a few guys that have done it, not regular posters though.
Mean VN I think (wagon) along with a few others in the My Rides section.
You need to swap the entire dash and front door trims, the HVAC box as well I think with the directional vents. Other than that, just stuffing around with the wiring as buttons are different and in different locations and wipers etc. are on a indicator style switch on the LHS of steering wheel in VR/VS, not on the cluster area like VN/VP.
I can source most of it pretty easy, but the hvac does it need to be from the vr or just a calais say vp? Then the switchs i guess can just be rerouted and wired no volt modding i hope. Is the vr bout the latest model i could go? I want a black dash, vt or something fit? with modding a bit?
Yep all done and working perfectly : level 3 dash , cruise control, power windows , vr bcm and keyhead ..very possible but time consuming.....make sure you want it and are prepared for a few hurdles....demister vents are a drama .....front face level vents need modifying too try this thread..Upgrade VN Dash Pad to VR or VS Dash my no 11 post has a few picts I used a vr loom out of acclaim with the cruise / power window stuff in it...even has the wiring for fog lights in it....few mods needed there for the vn computer to interface as well a few other things like head lights and engine plug wiring....even upgraded to a s2 intake manifold and everything works. Soon vt brakes and pacemaker extractors.

Nice job there mate. Think i might go ahead with it. Do you think vr/vs is about the newest model you could upgrade to?
VR/VS is the newest I would sensibly attempt upgrading toMainly because they were based on the same frame as the VN/VP.
If you try to upgrade to VT ontward, you're going to be looking at a completely different shell, with different interior dimensions etc. It would be more of a headache than it would be worth. (besides, who really likes the VT interior?)

yeah its very doable....
ive had a few issues with things like interior plastics not aligning 100%... but i can deal with that...
HVAC box swap wont work, wont fit the VP firewall or so ive heard... same with the tilt reach steering.. just mod your vents like markovr did or just dont bother with the vents...like i did... hahaha... wiring is easy when there are like a billion diagrams floating around these days...
its totally worth the mod, just takes a few days(flat out) to get it 100%
aZk.
If you want a black dash, why not just get a VQ statesman dash like I did? Its easier and personally I prefer it over the VR/VS dash:

'strue. The VQ Stato Series II dash looks FAR better than the VR/VS dash.
Unless you're going to upgrade to the VR/VS Caprice dash, which isn't bad either![]()

I like the vq dash, but hard to get one in good enough condition. Sort of why i thought a vr/vs dash as our wreckers has at least 8 of them and 4 good condition ones.
im pretty sure you have to change your door skins 2
no... you don't... but, its A LOT easier if you do though!
aZk.
finished my like last week. put in a vs statesman dash.
bit of work with the wiring. the fitting it the easiest bit, demisters are a pain.
all in all a very good mod thatll change the look majorly of you interior, but be prepared for alot of problem solving
Ooooh VS Stato dashes are sex. PICS NAO!!
