    Default Help vn 5.0 blow by

    i have a vn 5 litre and im having problems with the rocket cover breather hoses they let oil from the rocket covers leak into the throttle body which causes it to blow smoke would a oil catch can fix this or is there a better way to fix it any help would be great

    It must have been to the moon and back a few times, I've not seen a 5 litre have any real issue with blow by yet and I've seen some with huge k's on them. It's just caused by worn rings so not much you can do about it apart from replacing the worn parts

    it has done 256000ks i replaced the standard hose from the rocker covers to the throttle body with clear hose and you can see that there is oil in the hoses have done a compression check and its all fine has had a freshin up rings,pistons,bearings and gaskets about 100000ks ago

    do you still have the PCV valve hooked up? are the baffle plates behind the oil breather outlets on the inside of the rocker covers still there?

    Possibly could be jammed but i don't think that would cause the proplems you are having....

    Who did the rings bearings etc when it was freshened up?

    my mates god father he has builds race motors he said to put new pcv in but im not sure if that will work

    take the PCV valve off and try to blow in it both ways. one way should flow freely the other should not let air flow. this will soon tell you if its blocked or not.
