gday. i was just wondering about the effect of adjusting the kickdown cable (i think. the one near the throttle cable) I know you can adjust to make the box shift harder/quicker or softer/slower. If you do adjust it to make it shift harder will it do ne damage to the box or any other parts of the car?

PS this is on a stock auto VP with 300 000+
I did it by accident once... Yes you can make the car hold out till about 3200 before it changes. Its basically useless though. It doesnt do the motor much good... you sound like a hoon and im not sure its any good on the auto either. You cannot make it chage really early though. All that will do is make the car never downshift... and the engine will lug up hills.
Another downside is if you want to just drive softly you cant.
Holden have optimised the auto for the rev range in which it shifts. Anything outside of it without more mods will not make any great diff (unless you get a manual).
Its up to you tho, fiddle around with it if you want. But if it was me I would just cruise around in it (being a high mileage car).
oh k. i did it ages ago and never noticed any difference so its back to where it started, i just wanted to know if it could have done any damage or anything. thanks for the reply.
