temp and oil pressure guages

i bought a type r temp guage for my project car, i wanna know does the ecu need the old sender or can i simply remove the old one and replace it with the new one?

same deal with the oil pressure guage. im just thinkn of getting a t piece connection for that one.

there are 2 senders for the temp, 1 for the ecu the other for the gauge on the dash.

as above, which engine. as a rule of thumb however, the temp sensors are generally close to the thermostat housing as this is the warmest point on the engine before the coolant goes to the radiator

and the ECU needs to know the temperature of the coolant in order to be able to fuel and control spark accordingly.....

plus the v6 uses the temp to control the thermo fan as well.

You can get an adapter that goes into your top rad hose with a fitting for a sender, this way the factory bits and pieces remain unmolested.

You'll need a T piece for the oil pressure. the temp sensor u can remove the factory temp sensor and put the one in for the temp gauge. you just won't get the light on the dash.

VN-VS have 2x temp sensors one for the ECU and one for the dash gauge. just make sure u remove the one for the dash gauge. its the one with a single green wire going to it. the sensor with the injector like plug on it is for the ECU.

Useful info. My fan stopped working recently and my fuel consumption seems to have jumped up at the same time. I jumped the fan relay to earth so it runs all the time but now that I know the problem I will get it sorted.

is it better to get for a new one?
