My VP started surging (hunting) at idle and when your slowing down through the gears. I replaced the IAC with a new one, but this didnt fix the problem.
To test that it wasnt the IAC I blocked the IAC holes up in a spare TB I had and adjusted the throttle butterfly so it will idle around the 900rpm mark. This made a big difference in idle quality as I have a cam and I dont think the IAC could handle the lumpy idle too well.
But the surging is still there.
When I removed the air intake to get the TB off after the car had been running I noticed a vapor coming out of the inlet manifold and I could smell raw fuel.
Just wondering if a dodgy injector could cause the hunting?
When I did the plugs the other day one of them smelt like fuel and was wet as well.
I am not going to replace the IAC as the car runs a lot better with it disabled. Although it idles pretty low until it gets to operating temp. This I can live with as with the IAC working it would idle all over the place and had a flat spot on acceleration, With it disabled it responds instantly and much better as soon as I put my foot down.
My fuel consumption has gone from 12.8L/100km to 17.1L/100km once the hunting started. I have all new sensors on the engine.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Two injectors were ****ed.
