Located next to the battery, its a black tube with 2? hoses conected to the top.

    Why are you replacing it?

well ive had a bad petrol smell in my cabin for a long time and its gettin worse. so i read up on sum other threads bout it nd i saw carbon canister in many of them. along with breather pipes nd wat not.

a mate said that theres more chance that theres sumin wrong in the engine bay nd the smell is coming thru the aircon vents.... yes/no?

get under the car where petrol filler inlet is there are a couple hoses there , for some reason holden used a clear tube for the breather hose well it was like that on mine from when my parents bought car brand new and after few years the crap tube cracks so when you have about 3/4 full tank you get the smell.

Also if it's not that then Id be looking at fuel filter lines & also the fuel lines going to throttle body.

How many lines actually go to the pollution canister?

I know one comes from the fuel tank as a breather and one i think goes to the throttle body is that it?

I want to mount mine in the boot as my fuel cell needs to be vented and also to get it out the engine bay

I dont think it would be the canister at all, more than likely the breathers, have u pulled the plate off where the wheel is and checked right up there, more than likly have to drop the fuel tank and replace them because 3/4 of VNs with origenal breather hoses would be stuffed and will give you a smell of fuel in the car, take it for a spin and then put you head in the boot see if it smells more in there mine did, and the subs would pump the smell into the car when i had them cranking lol

just do a match test, hold a match near where it smells. If there is a leak the fire will be attracted to the fumes which in turn come from the leak.
    or not.

I'd be looking for any weeping etc of hoses. it won't necessarily be a leak with dripping etc.

In my manual i cant see pics of the top of the filler pipe but theres 3 hoses connected 2 the top of the tank 2 smaller breather hoses around 5mm thick and another thicker breather hose mayb 10-15mm thick? they all run 2 the top of ur filler pipe, i think the thicker pipe thats an over flow hose that lets air out and if fuel gets drawn back it'll go through that pipe n go back into ur tank wen u fill it up not 100% sure but id say ud have 3 other hoses connected 2 the top of ur filler pipe the same as a sedan. check those 4 cracks or if u dont have them that could b ur reason 4 smell?
