hey,
i just wanted some help from someone who knows the problem.
VP central locking - unlocks all doors besides the passenger, it continually tries to, as I can hear the motor trying to push it up for around about 10 attempts or so.
Is this an electrical or a mechanical prob? Anyone know how to fix?
Its just annoying having to lean over and unlock all the time.
thanks Simmo
If you can hear it 'working' it's likely that the motor or latch is sticking. The factory applied grease in the gears or the latch gets hard with age. Plenty of lube, like spray grease, (not WD-40 or CRC penetrating oil - they're great products for other things just not this) in the latch mechanism and/or inside the lock motor (pull the rubber boot off the motor for access - door trim off first) sometimes works. Otherwise it's time for another lock motor.
Another common fault is the wires between the door and body breaking inside the insulation but usally that means an intermittent lock operation only.
The modules fail also.
check for faulty connections to the window motor, might be dead but pull the door trim off and make sure everythings hooked up right and in good nick first to be sure.
Same for our VS. The back two doors don't lock (they DO unlock). Occasionally they work. Is this likely to be a sticking problem or is the whole motor a wreck? And if it does just require lube, what sort?
