stupid level 2 dash

ok well 1 of my m8s got a level 2 dash 4 his s2 vn executive and the speedo and the tacho didnt work, so we put it in my s1 vn executive and everything worked. At first we thought we put it in wrong in his car so we put it bak in but did no difference. Y is it that the dash worked in my car and not his wen the only difference is that 1 is a series 1 and the other is a series 2
Note: both came out wit non tacho dashes in them.

Also wen i put the level 2 dash in everything was all good and then i changed the face on it and now its 20k out y is that and how can i fix it and yes wen im not moving the needle is right on 0ks

I think the back 3 connectors are wired differently in SOME cars (I think S1 and S2 are different) as people have a similar problem with the wires needing to be swapped around when installing a level 3 cluster. But don't take my word on it..

ive changed numerous s1 and s2 vn-vp dash's between one another and never had a problem, except a vn dash in a vp wont display the ;turn left indicator light...

Does his old dash work fine in both cars?

I have a S1 VN and installed a S2 Vn tacho dash works fine, also a mate installed a Calais dash everything worked but the digital display cause u would need loom and all but tacho and speedo work.

vnv8driver: yeah his old dash works in both cars as does my dash works fine in his.

The dash is out of a s2 vn. We just cant figure out wats causing it not 2 work. At first we thought the sender 4 the tacho was screwed but that doesnt explain the speedo not workin in his car.

the only difference in wiring is between the vn and vp with the dash controls. i tried a vp loom in my vn and the switches on the side of the dash went stupid but never a problem with the speedo and tacho. i had a level one dash, i put in a level two dash and now im running a level 3 dash no problems at all

yep i have the same prob... LH turn signal lamp and the "Press Remote" lamps dont work. mine is a VN V8 cluster in a VP V6 (oh and the tahco is out... gotta do the conversion mentioned elsewhere). fun

my speedo wasn't working awhile back it would get up to 80kph and then drop down to 0, turned out to be the speed sensor fuse so check your fuses mine looked fine but it was stuffed.

i messed around with the dash 2day and now its only 5ks out. Also with the level 2 dash not working in my m8s car, we tried a vr dash in it and everything work. Is his car messed up or did 1 of the old owners stuff around with the wires on the bak.
