Default VN V6 brakes to V8 brakes

What do i need? Id like the VN to stop a little better but without spending $2500 on a big brake upgrade, does anyone know what parts i need to go from the standard V6 brakes to say VN SS or VP V8 brakes or something? do i need a different brake booster and master cylinder etc?

vn s pac should have v8 front calipers on it already, when i was wreaking a white vn spac it came with v8 brakes standard. on ebay atm u can get vt twin spotters kits quite cheap. i have the twin spotters and i brake quite well

i think the brake booster and master cylinder is the same between v6 and v8? just v8 has 290mm front rotors over the stock v6 setup.

nah v6 is 7/8ths, v8 is one inch, unless eg with the spac v6 it had the one inch master cylinder on it

    v6 has 15/16", v8 has 1"

you need the master cylinder, v8 rotors and calipers.

get dba027 front rotors, and vn-vp v8 calipers, or vr v6 calipers.

1" master cylinder will give better pedal feel, but the 5/16 will actually work better, but give low pedal feel.

also, the bracket that goes from the master cylinder to the strut tower at the front, make a stronger one, so the master cylinder doesnt push forwards when u press the brakes.

A big brake upgrade (assuming your talking about the vt/x twin piston bakes) will not cost $2500. You getting ripped off if you spend more than $500.

depends how big you go, and if you want to do rears aswell. he didnt mention the vt/x brakes, so he could mean anything.

Ok thanks for the input guys, Hakhawk when you say the 5/16 actually works better do you mean overall better in braking? cause im assuming the 290mm front rotors will make for better stopping power if i got the the v8 setup? I was either going to go slotted Dba brakes with good pads all round, or go to v8 setup and also get slotted rotors and good pads, So basically is it worth going the V8 brake route? or just get v6 slotted rotors and good pads all round?

    Cheers

if you read up on how master cylinders and calipers work, the 15/16 puts morepressure on the fluid, in turn putting more pressure on the calipers than the 1". but the way the vn pedal box is setup, the ratio is wrong to take full advantage of it, so youve gotta push to almost the end for it to work. so the 1" feels better, because its working earlier.

i went the v8 route with slotted rotors and bendix gct pads, and it brakes better than the v6 setup.

V8 booster is also different, but you can bolt the 1inch master up to the V6 booster with no dramas
