Angry vn calais keyless entry problem

the 1988 vn i bought last night came with 2 buttons top open car with.
    they both worked this morning.
now only one of them works.
    why, how, is/has this happened?
i dont even know if the keyless entry is origanal or after market?
i don't even know if this model came out with keyless entry.
    any help be much apreciated.
    cheers.

If it's the original remote setup, the doodad that has the buttons on it should be a small rectangular shape with indented lines around the buttons. Top button should open/unlock the car. and the bottom one should open the boot.
    Couple of questions:
    1) Is the battery flat? - Stupid question i know, but may be the problem

    2) Does the red LED on the remote flash when a button is pressed? - Remote may be broken.

    3) Do you have an overide key? (Over ride switch is in the glovebox) This will turn the system off and you can lock the doors manually

    4) Can you hear the locks moving?

    5) Try pointing it at the base of the antenna, best signal point.

If its an aftermarket thing, the problem could be anywhere. Most aftermarket jobs are by previous owners in the backyard.

Let me know how you go.

sounds like after market as it is round, buttons side by side.
big button works doors, little button is a panic alarm
red light flashes when trying to use it
    nothing else happens though
i think it is keyless entry and alarm
    f@##@* knows

Take a picture of you remote and post it.

Pretty sure VN still had the holden symbol on the remotes.
