If I was to sell a VN V6 5 speed with about 130,000 original ks on it,
how much should I be asking?
Paint is stuffed as is the headlining but the interior and mechanics are great.
Should I keep it or they worth so little now its not worth bothering?
Probably go on carsales or ebay and have a look...sadly the old VNs aren't worth all that much at the moment.I'd say $2 - 3 grand at the most.
Though if yours is a manual, and its in good condition, and hasn't been thrashed, that will bring up the value a bit - finding a decent condition VN manual that hasn't been thrashed like a stolen car these days is like finding a nun in a brothel. (no offense intended, but its the truth!)

maybe give it a tidy up before you sell it... at least the hood lining, and depending on how bad the paint is maybe a cut and polish? or is it too far gone for that?
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
i just bought series 1 vn calais from ebay, runs beautiful, straight, clean, little rust under rear window which is getting fixed as we speak, pioneer stereo, sony explode speakers and 4 chanel amp, all electrics work., interior beautiful, and some nice walkinshaw mags i think which look like they been polished with brand new tyres 225/50/16. rwc took about 200 bucks in parts, was a genuine roady not a bodgy, unregistered.
1950 i got it for
rust is that small it only cost 270 to repair
body and interior brilliant
You guys are getting pretty good money for VNs. You could expect somewhere just under 2 grand for a good manual where I live and about 500 for a near road worth auto V6. And about 4 grand and 3 grand for the 5 litre versions Manual and Auto
Yeah, I wouldn't be expecting more than about $1500 for a manual V6 VN these days. Especially with the paint issues. Only thing appealing about that is the manual transmission for conversions.
For comparison, I picked up my 1990 VQ Statesman V8 with a current RWC, a year's rego, and perfect paint, for $3000.

If it helps to guage price variations, I got my V6 Auto Calais (S1) with 6 mnth rego, one owner, garaged, no rust, GMH service history, fully functioning electrics, new tires, (all stock, no mods, female driven) for $800 on the gold coast about 3 years ago...
You got a better chance of more for your car due to manual....
I highly recomend putting some time in on the roof lining, and little things as mini projects, cut & polish ect ect, then if you sell as "immaculate manual" you can ask more from someone with appreciation of that model..
or sell cheap "as is" to someone who'll scrap it for parts...
I know what i'd be doing![]()
A half decent vn in my books is worth around 3 maybe 4.. Dollars lol
Sick of em!
