    hey guys

this arvo i tried starting my ute and it didnt start, jus sat there ticking for a bit so i stopped then tried agen and did the same, then the 3rd time it started nd idled very roughly so i reved it nd white smoke came out of my exhaust. then when i was driving white smoke was coming out. the white smoke has happened a bit in the past month, every now and then.

Thumbs up blown head gasket ?

sounds like a blown headgasket, buggar, check your radiator,if your using water,or the water doesnt stop bubblin then thats your problem.they can have a blown head gasket and still not overheat.

not much for the gasket but its the labour that kills it, heads gotta come off. Look for a stream of small bubbles in your radiator when you take the cap off with the motor running (not when hot obviously). and look under your oil cap for any white foamy stuff, these are sure signs of a cracked head or blown head gasket, as is the white smoke you have described (steam)

If you are mechanically minded it can almost be a chance to upgrade. For a hundred bucks you can pick up a set of heads from the wreckers. Cutting them with 3 angle valve seats, larger valves and a shave wouldnt cost heaps. No more than a set of reco/replacement heads.

if you gaskets blown due to overheating then the heads will need to be shaved, they tend to warp, and a crack test before the heads are shaved.worst case is either or both the heads are cracked,so they get replaced.

also could be a cracked block, but from my experience they take bloody ages to fire up when this is the case.
