Im looking at buying a exhaust for my vp v6 commodore what would people reckon would be a nice sounding exhaust for a v6?
A big one...
2.5 inch single pipe, mandrel bends with no muffler and a glass packed resonator. most people grab the muffler with no resonator and makes it drone like crap
How much do they usealy go for with fitting aswell
between $250 and $2000 depending on what you want
catbacks are the cheapest at around $300
then extractors add about $500-$700
Highflow cat $200ish
Twin system $1100 ish
does the catbacks sound good?
sounds good to me on my vn.
i got a 2.5" mandrel bent front section, then press bent 2.5" tailpipe on my sedan, and it sounds sweet to me...
then again ive got a manual, and a BA Falcon catalytic converter,[bigger than the stock commy], so its ur own choice really!!
i just want something that sounds gd lol i have no idea about exhaust so i really have no idea what im looking for
just go the cheap easy affective way, 2.5 catback single straight thro muffler no resi, and that will be fine.

Will that sound nice ? and would it be to loud and cops defect it?
V6 Exhaust - Post here
here is my thread, check it out
I have 2.5 Mandrel bent exhuast single straight thro muffler, got it off Egay, $180, and it sounded real good for a 6, didnt drone and had a nice note nothing over the top, and then i fitted Pacemaker extractors and it gave it more of a bark sounds heaps better more of a grunty sound, but thats your best bet, its the most common upgrade for V6commodores 2.5 exhaust, no need to go bigger unless its a V8 or charged. plus you wouldnt want to spend so much on a exhaust thats not going to do much for performance with a v6 its more for sound, unless its getting worked

ok ill go down to my local car shop tomorrow an see how much it will cost + fitted..so im wanting to get a 2.5 exhaust
2.5" mandrel, and try a supercat mid muffler, with just a straight pipe at the back. Sounded beautiful on my VP. No drone under 110, but a nice crisp note under throttle, and a good amount of gurgle on lean engine braking.

I pulled up next to a mate and he had a VN V6 and he said his exhaust was louder, he had 2.1/4inch stock muffler and hotdog on the back, at idle his was louder than mine because it had the hot dog and mine didnt and was a straight thro muffler, but under throttle his sounded crack not a grunting sound at all, so mine took the win, also with the whole cop thing its not bad because if your next to them at the lights it sounds quiet and still quiet when driveing with stuff all revs but when you put the boot into it, it will bark at ya and thats what you want, also dont go anywhere near cannons on commodores its becoming a trend now and is really getting to me, i've seen some nice VN SS with perfect paint and rims and they stuff it all up with a cannon. :P

True, there is a few nuts up here, but cops are cracking down hard on just the average cruiser.

That's interesting, though. Why DO hotdogs look good on Jap imports? They just don't look at all attractive on anything else from any country, but a good hotdog on a Silvia or a Ceffy is just horn.![]()

i have a 2.5 inch press bent with supercat centre muffler, no resi and twin 3inch dump tip. gurgles lots in the mid rpm range on accel and deceleration. its quite loud, but not attention grabbing if you take it easy. as with all exhausts on the buick 3.8's it screams at high rpm. cost me about $300 however i got mates rates. With my tip (which is quite expensive, $130) it should have cost $385.
Hehehe, so you got it in did you? Glad it's got a good new home ^__^ I loved that exhaust.
Yeah, supercat's a good one. I didn't get mates rates, but I did drive out to Benalla with a friend for a road trip. 3hr drive, but the guy out there did the mandrel bent system for $200![]()

none of mine was bolt on, and its over diff for more clearance (cause my cars really quite low) so it was a bit more expensive. mandrel bent is a bit of a wank unless your running a worked motor imo, so it being press bent doesnt worry me in the slightest.
but yeah, ill probably get a supercat muffler when i get a 32 next year. i hadnt heard of them before the exhaust i have now but they sound alot better than walker and lukey.
