Hi i have a vn commodore i went out to start the car this morning and it almost did but then the battery started ticking.
My dad came down to give me a jump start which then started straight away.
i took my car for a drive and then went to the servo to get some gas when i tried to start my car it ticked again, i popped the bonnet tried to move the battery terminals but they were pretty hard on.
i then put the bonnet down and tried to start the car again and it started straight away with plenty of power in the battery.
bit confussed,
Then i went to the supermarket and as i was parking my car it just stalled and when i went to start it it wouldnt start just got that ticking noise again.
Tried and tried to start it again but it wouldnt start.
I can here the fuel pump comming on when i turn the ignition on but as soon as i go to start it it just ticks away.
Anyone any ideas? would it be the battery or something else?

hey you could have a bad earth or something and it could be loose somewere trace it back from the battery and it should be screwed to the chasie somewere not sure if this is the problem but worth a look hope this helps kasey

could be your alternator not charging the battery or maybe your starters had it i had a pumped up stereo in mine and that drain it heaps too
If it dosnt work somtimes but powers on at other times, i would say its a dodgy terminal wire. Double check starer motor main wire. Check your main engine earth, and your main battery to chasis earth wire. Give them all a little wiggle and clean while you are there anywayz. Plus check the little ignition wire on the starter too.
I have also seen good looking terminals, but the wire inside the lug corroded up. Just somthing to keep in mind.
Should be pretty easy to spot when you see it.
sometimes mine just slowly turns over then fires up. by that it just rolls over. would it be a dodgy starter connection or rooted battery?
i'd say the battery has droped a cell.
mine done the same.
