Default - Help** - a/c belt throws off other belts VN

    Hi all,

as the heading states - when i have an a/c belt fitted to the car (5l v8) it either squeaks really loud and snaps (only happenned once), or it throws the belt off, which then throws the other two belts off.

    any solutions??

    Cheers,

    Jazack

When you turn the A/C pulley by hand, is it hard to turn or is there excessive play? Does it happen regardless of whether the A/C is turned on or off?

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

First step is to check the tension (most likely) and then that the pulleys are in line. Also check that your aircon compressor isn't seized.

how do I check if they are inline, is this just a visual inspection - if so, they appear to be ok. compressor was reconditioned so there should be no problem there.

the a/c pulley is easy to turn by hand, and the issue only occurs when the ac is turned on.

If its standard you'd assume the pulleys line up, if your certain the problem only occurs when ac is on, perhaps when the ac clutch engages something jamming/seizing up?

Are you replacing the belt yourself? it shouldn't be loose nor overly tight.
