Hi guys got a new toy a VP V6 5spd but shes thirsty as on fuel. Got about 550klms out of full tank + $15 top up!!! Cant keep that up!! Any ideas/examples of the economy you guys r gettin out of yours? Cheers
i wouldn't be expecting any more then that![]()
You wont find many 6 cylinders that go further than that during general driving around, but you could probably improve it to about 800 per tank if you are driving in a straight line down the highway
How much did your tank cost you ? I am wondering, because i dont have enuff spare cash atm to put a full tank in mine and find out.
i can fill my lpg tnk for $38 and get 500km's out of that. Perhaps more now she's had a tune.
My car drinks the fuel, i think its only cause my foot sometimes falls asleep when driving and it accelerates :P i think it will drink the fuel more since its superchargedoh well more fuel more power.

mine does heaps of ks for the ammount of petrol i put in there, 14litres from empty = 60ks and still got alot in there and thats driving highway n in town n yes i got a heavy foot to :P
Well I thought my VN was ok on the fuel but it sucked, no matter what I did nothing changed fuel consumption (it wasnt too bad anyway though) I had changed almost everything in a year and got a carbon clean which leads me to believe the buicks are ****e on the fuel.
they may go 'forevAr' but once they hit 200,xxx km + they seem to be alchoholics even my old mate had his vp which had only done 140,xxx wasnt good on the fuel either and it was stock as.
I reckon I was getting about 350-400 km ranging speeds of 0-100 at least.
my gs vs - 150,xxx and my vr 140,xxx use less than by far..
i got around teh 300 around town in my vn and about 450-500 on high way...but now that i have a vs im getting about 500 around town.....which is gooddon't know about highway yet as haven't taken it on there yet
If your getting 550km in town then that is heaps good. on highway i usually get about 600km and city driving about 400km
Australia. Love it or leave it
Yeah got about 560km suburbian driving but thats a full tank and $15 top up. All up about $115 worth of petty. How can i improve this? Is it true a 2.5 exhaust can improve fuel economy?
i put the 2.5 inch exhaust on me vn and it did help but not to the point off "holy ****" lol in other words its hardly noticeable unless the old exhaust is restricting the flow big time
that sounds about right man i get like 480-530 with half/half highway and city driving
anyone having any issues with Mobils 3% ethanol mix (91 octane)? may car runs fine on it but starting is a different story.
it sits there cranking over until i press the gas pedal then slowly it comes to life. the other week i ran it on normal fuel and it ran fine.
i had an empty tank put in 15L and got 120km, with all the usual bolt ons and a supercharger and its not a sundays drive how i drive it, is that good? or crap, no highway driving strickly intown drivein at lights etc

haha turn ya car off and roll much ? 120 our of 15L of fuel with a S/C donk is dam good.
was your tank bone dry to begin with ?![]()
My VS V6 Statey has got over 800Klm from a tank,
though usually 680-740klm.
Slow down into corners; minimum, or no braking,
Straightline the Corners;
EASE the accelerator on,
NOT Tramp on it.
Do what I say,
NOT what I do![]()
I am "Out West" with minimum City driving; and that's only Toowoomba

this week i got 170km out of $50. i was giving it hell through the hills though.
Lets do some simple maths. You've got a 63L tank. Lets assume you fill up when you have give or take 8 litres remaining. Then you put in $15 which would give you another 9 liters. So you got 550ks out of approx 64 litres.
550km's/100 = 5.5
64L/5.5 = 11.6 Litres per 100kms
If you think thats thirsty with suburban driving then you need a little 4 cylinder. Not a commodore.
Go put a 2.5" exhaust on the car if you want but you may well find your economy in local suburban driving become worse. The reason is you lose the back pressure needed to get the car moving so on take off you're actually using more fuel. Cruising on an open hwy you may save 0.2L per 100ks but it'll be years before you recoup the cost of the exhaust if any saving at all.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
......these cars are not new so you would expect that![]()
Yep, that's about as far as you'll get on a tank with mostly city driving
Only way to reduce your fuel bill would be to convert it to gas but then that takes a while to repay itself anyway
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

haha go the magna...........
With the VP.. 68 litres.. Gets around 410-460km all local.
VT did 502km on 63 litres.
