    Default Should I Buy??

came across this VP CALAIS for $4grand.

absolutly immaculate. one of the best i have ever seen.

1 owner, and every service documented scince new. the previous owner was a bit wacko when it came to getting things right.

but yeh put in a deposist and waiting to sell a mx6 i got atm.

    what do u reckon?

Are you getting it for 4 grand or 5 grand? It's advertised for 5 in the picture

Looks fairly clean. Missing the chrome insert on the LHS guard spat, otherwise looks good.

    Sold with RWC of course?

    Things to check:

    Roof lining
    Clickyness of power window switches
    Rear main
High pressure hoses around steering rack
Evidence of touchups around the corners of bumpers
Evidence of rust underneath window rubbers
Condition of door seals (give 'em a good tug)

But yeah, it looks like a pearler

    Just be aware:

If you've had a good look through the service history, and can't see evidence of a transmission rebuild, know that they tend to go funky between 200-300,000km

Your centre caps WILL get stolen

Check for things like CAS, Harmonic Balancer, Water Pump, and see when they were last changed. At this age, and more specifically toward 300,000 they start to have mood swings.

But nice car. NICE car. I'm almost jealous!

Five grand for a 15 yr old car. It's a Calais, but so what. The dealer has a zero feedback score. Why would they advertise it on Ebay if it was such a good buy? He has only been a member for a month. These are the questions you need to ask yourself.

Go and personally look at the car, drive it and even get an independent check. I think it is a bit much for this particular car. Have a look in the Sunday Times at other VP's, you will see that they are quite a bit cheaper.

For $4000 it's a good buy, and gureno said he was getting it for 4. If it's mint, then it's worth it if you're a bit of an enthusiast. For a daily I wouldn't spend that much, but if it's something you want to look after, then it's well worth the money for something which appears to be quite clean. Did it look that good in person gureno?

be wary until you go and see it in the metal car yards send the cars to be professionally detailed, so looking good in the ad is a given. go and drive it, get it tested etc.

bit pricey for a 6 too could get a vs calais for 4ish

235000 km v6 and they want 4 grand? its worth it if through a dealership with 6 months rego, rwc, a resnoble warranty and it drives rattle free & the motor & trans work good. if it was private sale id offer him 1500-2000

If you have said you are going to buy the car and have put a deposit down then you are really obligated to buy it unless the owner has mis-represented it as something it's not.

Indeed it may look good and they give a rwc but i don't trust they're rwc's lol especially the smaller yards, i bought my vl from car yard with rwc and 6 months warranty and rotors were undersized brakes low all round shocks worn, tyre had slow leak. went back to complain about noisy lifters and they told me to change the oil lol. F%$K car yards lol. private sales can be just as bad tho, but no-ones worse than car dealers. I have become much wiser these days (i hope i have LOL) everyone has to get burned once or they never get wise, just something to think about hehe. [/rant]

i cant remember if theres a 1-2 day col off or a weeks cooloff? either way he could get his deposit back if he acted quickly (only if the car isnt to be bought)
