Hi, My VP series1 5 speed revs pretty high when im putting the clutch in and braking. For example if im down to 2nd gear i just usually keep the clutch in and brake to stop and it revs from then right up until i stop rolling and for about 2/3 seconds after stopping then drops suddenly. Does this indicate maybe an Auto computer? Or is this normal? Either way it sounds funny with my sports exhaust.
sounds like a speed sensor error. i suggest you do a error code check.
My VS would do that when i still had the auto trans functions enabled in the ecu
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Im not sure, mine has a simular problem, but im fairly sure its to do with the IAC and LPG, it just takes it sweet arsed time finding idle, but once its found it, she's pretty much right.
Untill you turnt he car off. Somethings going amiss somewhere, prob just a sticky IAC

How do i do an error code check? Do you mean pay someone to run a diagnosis?

OK but whats an IAC and how do i clean it so its not sticky? And my cars not on LPG so thats not it....
Sounds good but there seems to be quite a few people saying that their engine light comes on while driving after doing this test...... Is this gonna be an issue? If not ill Go have a check this weekend. Cheers
Computer fault check came up with code 12 so no probs there, Also has a bit of a rough idle and doesnt sound very smooth out the exhaust, Sorta lumpy Any ideas? Maybe need new ECU???
reset your computer and see if that works.
Sounds good. How do i go about doing that?
The IAC is you idle air controle valve, its located on the back of your throttle body near the butterfly, just 2 torx screws and its out, they get gummed up with carbon etc, but by the sounds of what other people have said this may not be your problem, but it never hurts to give it a good clean, you mayaswell clean your T/B while you at it, just get ya self a can of carby cleaner, a old toothbrush and have at it.
not hard to clean the throttle body and well worth the effort.
To reset the computer just unplug the engine fuse for a min or so the refit it and start the car. Now rev to about 2k for a min and done.
PSS this shoud be done when cold, well so i'm told.
I reset the computer and revved it for about 40 seconds. Didnt wanna do any longer. No change tho. I guess ill be pullin the throttle body off this weekend. And while im at it removing the bellmouth........
my mates VS was doing the same thing and it was the vacuum pipe on the throttle body that was the problem
Checked/felt/wiggled all the vac pipes doesnt seem to be an issue but have a new problem. Just put a sports exhaust on and welded the rear resonator on. Have a small hole at the top where i couldnt weld. Now after a day driving since doing it its idling really rough (shaking the car a bit) and seems to be missing pretty consistently. Makes a muffled pop pop pop pop pop out the exhaust probably every half second or so. What do i do?????
If you cant patch it up your self you will haft to take it to a zaust shop and get them to have a go.
Or you can take the zaust of the car and weld it.
Ive patched it but its still missing. The pop pop pop sound is it missing (couldnt think of any other way to describe the sound.) Its really rough now.... Im thinking throttle body, Coil pack or Oxygen Sensor.... But the ECUs not picking up the fault. Maybe its the ECU if so why is all this happening straight after i did the exhaust?
Help guys need it fixed today. Whaddya reckon i should do?
sounds like either a vacuum leak or a faulty idle control motor, go to repco, grab some subaru upper engine cleaner, spray it in the throttle body & little hole inside the throttle body a few times and see if that works.
What condition are the spark plugs? When was it last serviced? check all the basics first
It was last sercived 3000kms ago so its not that. But im changing the throttle body (complete with sensors) and coilpack now so ill let you know how i go tonight. Wish me luck.....
it wont be the coilpack, dont buy it if you already havent.
well removed & thoroughly cleaned the TB and it ran even worse! Then i revved it a few times and its settled back to what it was. Still absolutely s*#thouse. Pulled the bellmouth out while i was at it to hopefully gain a few kw's. What is goin on? O2 sensor maybe??? This sucks im lost....
A while back, my mechanic pulled my inlet manifold off, and broke the MAP sensor hose. The car was completely ****ed, it could barely move. I took it back, the MAP sensor and hose was replaced, and all was good again. It's worth checking all the ECU sensors, like O2, MAP, MAT, etc
you wont gain any kilowatts from the bellmouth, as suggested above check for vacuum leaks. your car would or run worse because it was in the idle learning procedure for 20 seconds or so.
Ok is there any set way to check for vacuum leaks? Or am i better off just going to upull it and getting the whole set and replacing them all? While im at it would it be worth replacing the fuel filterto try fix it? If so how do i de-pressurize the fuel lines? Sorry if im clutchin at straws here.....
