Thumbs down Error 41 but not usual CAS Behaviour

Hey guys, long time browser first time poster blah blah etc.....
Have been having some strange problems with my 91 Vp Exec, when driving (could be 20 mins into the drive) absolutely EVERYTHING will cease to operate, including headlights or any electrics for that matter, the engine dies all at the same time - will happily start again a few seconds later and continue on the journey without any further problems.
My initial thought was maybe dodgy main fuse/relay (is there a main relay?) but it all looks ok - I know the alternator has been playing up for the last couple of years but is still hanging in there, even if the alternator was spiking surely once the car was dead electrics would still run straight off the battery?
I ran an error test which came up 41 - CAS, if I have checked the error codes will they then clear until you run the test again ? (As I did have a faulty CAS a couple of years back but replaced it and all has been well up until now)

    Any thoughts??

If nothing works when the problem occurs, I think that it's almost got to be between the battery and the fuse block/busbar under the bonnet. The earth terminal at the battery might be another possibility. The 'alternator' fault may be related.

Maybe have another/closer look at the main fusible link and the wire and the bolt that connect the battery to the busbar

Does anything else come up after the code 41, see if there is any other codes, cause i was getting codes 41-42 and it ended up being the wire from CAS to the coilpack in the connection it wasnt making contack with the coilpack from connector, so i cut it off and put anoter 1 on and all was good, whjen the car is running wiggle the wires around on the coilpack and see if anything happens, good luck.

Nah just keeps outputting 41 and that's it :S

Thanks for advice guys will go over the battery/fusebox with a fine tooth comb and see if anything is wiggling at all.
Are there any other reason why it would be giving me a CAS error? Would it be on a slightly wrong angle or something?

Do the dash lights come up or not when it dies?

If not, check the fuseable link that runs alongside the positive battery cable. See if it has corrosion on it. It will be a white plug, pull it apart and see if it has a greenish buildup. If it has, replace it.
