    Default Central Locking Remote Key

    Hello,

I ordered a Central Locking Remote Key for my VP Calais and went and picked it up today.

I'm aware that it has to be 'coded' to my car for it to work, although I heard that a special tool is required to do so.

Could anyone shed some light on who can do this?

Here's a picture of the Remote Key:

    Thanks,
    Chris

apparently locksmiths can do it, i know that mr minit sells slightly different models and can code them to your frequency or whatever, so give them a shot.

Hoilden can do them. They'll tell you it takes about half an hour, then 5 minutes later they'll find you looking in the new cars and say its done.

Is about $50 for programming. $120 for remote and programming, remotes are $74 on their own.

I contacted the Holden dealer near me (Cranbourne Holden), they said they do not have the older tools required to program the older Holdens as they have only been open for 3 years.

I guess I'll give Dandenong Holden a try.

    Thank you.

Tech 1 is what they need to have. If you say that, they'll know what your on about.

If they tell you they can't program them, and you have to get mongoose to do it, tell them there wrong, and its the HOLDEN alarm, not the earlier mongoose one (i had that head**** for ages)

    Locksmiths usually don't have Tech1.

They can cut the Ignition and override keys, but can't program the remotes.

Speaking of, have you got the override key? You'll need that aswell.

Nah you wont. But if you didn't have the key, chances are the system would be off, in which case it'd need to be turned on.

Okay, I called Holden in Cranbourne, they said they do not own a Tech1 as they are only 3-4 years old and the tool is around 15 years old, they do not make them anymore and are only available second hand.

The person I spoke to at Holden said that TintaCar in Dandenong can code it for me, I gave them a rang and said they don't do them on-site, what they do is order the new remotes and have them coded in NSW.

He also said that what I can do is bring in my remote and they can send it off to have it coded, although I need the alarm key, which I don't have, when I spoke to Holden they said they do not have it as VPs did not come with alarm keys.

This is so frustrating, I've been running around everywhere for this damn remote and I can't even get it coded!

Does anyone know for certain where I can get it coded and what I need?

From what i gather, they will either need the car there, or a remote already programmed to your car to get it working.

Just try other holden dealers man. Find one thats been around for ages.

My car was sold new from Suttons Motors, so give them a try if thats anywhere near you. They said they can definatly program the keys.

I rang Booran Holden in Dandenong, they told me I need to bring in my car + remote for them to program it.

    I'll get that done tomorrow.

    Cheers Stealthy.

My remote keys laying on the shed floor last time I saw it, it the button on it was stuffed. If I ever get another remote I'm going to unsolder the chip out of mine and solder it into new one. I think the bcm will have a number/sticker on it like the chip in the remote does and you need the matching key put into the new remote

Contacted Holden in Dandenong today to book in my car, and they told me they don't do it anymore and I need to go to TintaCar!

What a joke, nobody knows who does what and where.

They are out there mate. Out of all the Holden dealers, you can't find one that does it?

I live in Adelaide, and theres 6 within a 30 minute drive that can do it for me.
