Aha i like it and am going to start doing that. Anyone else in?
bahahaha, that's fantastic TroyThe good 'ole VN handshake, used to greet your car in the morning when you start it up ^^ Every VN/VP driver is familiar with this manoeuvre, why not put it to better use!
The only problem will be getting it to catch on... we don't exactly have a large user base here when compared to the number of VN/VPs out there - and frankly, in suburbs like Narre Warren and Logan, it could get quite tiresome having your hand off the wheel quite so frequently!![]()

Ahahaha im in love it!!
Everyone allready does itI've seen heaps of VN/P drivers over the years pull out of there driveways or the petrol station *bash* and continue on their way. I even caught myself doing it to my Brothers VS not that it needed it (just needs time) but I can't help myself
I have a problem with my vn, i cant get my gauges to stick?? checked it last night after not being drivent for 2 weeks and had to do a fake tap on the dash when i went past a local vp..
Any ideas how i can get them to stick like you guys![]()
Sure, get one that hasn't been soldered![]()
I love the idea, though I'm gunna fix up my gauges real soon because now the tacho is sticking. I've gotta give it a tap to make it come to life, the fuel gauge and the temp gauge too. Only thing still working is the speedo, and even that's starting to get dicky.
Problem will be that I see so many VNs everyday that I'm going to end up with RSI.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
A new group is formed - The VN Dash Bashers!
All you need is a sticky set of guages and your in.
Gold.
White 05 V6 VZ Executive - Thrashed Ex Telstra car
and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
One problem, the VR-VS's also did it, and a couple of VT's i think... humm its going to become a big club
what a shame, i flick the plastic cover thingy on the front to get mine to work. haha.
Yeah, if you pull the cluster apart, and follow the wires from the back of the fuel gauge to the circuit board, you'll find a chip with a few soldered pins on it. Cut one of them, and leave it hanging close to the contact point.
I'm seriously considering doing this to my VQ. I miss having to hit the dash cluster on a weekly basis!

There out there, ive seen some really bad ones in my mates' cars, like the needle jumping to 0 every time it hits 100, speedo doesnt work from standstill, have to hit the dash to make tacho needle return to 0 or idle speed (my v6's did this), umm what else, the temp gauge doesnt react for ages unless you fill up the tank, the common 'gauges dont register till you bash the dash', weird humming sounds from cluster area & blown cluster bulbs !!!!
Makes you glad you got one of the good ones ey morton, get your halleffect sensor in yet?

is that why its taking so long your dloing the whole dissy..... ill read your thread thoroughly soon to catch up.
I have a new cap/button and topgun leads to put on mine which im putting off for as long as i can !
haha this is funny i was talking about this lastnite.. i think i see people staring at me when i do this.. coz sumtimes its like im gonna bring down the whole dash with the cluster one day!
hahaha yeah, if I had the new dissy in my hand, I'd have it all swapped over in half a day. Waiting on parts gives me the craps
Doing the manual conversion, I've gotten so good at cap/button/lead/coil changes, I think I could do a full swap of all those parts in ten minutes.
hahahaha, I know, sometimes you just feel like you're about to break more stuff hey![]()

I was wondering if i could join the club. I don't have a VN any more ,but i was driving down to supercheap today and thought that i have been getting good fuel economy as my fuel gauge has been sitting on half for a few days .I pulled up at Supercheap and gave the gauge a bit of a tap but the needle didn't move , but when i got back in and started my car (VX) the needle was nearly on empty and it started beeping and the warning light came on . VX , the new VN
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
Bahahahaha ^_^ Oh wow, I LOVE itHolden DO have a sense of humour!
