Hey Guys,
Just wanted to no if anyon has any helpful hints for when i take my injectors off my vp tomorrow. Got a set of vy injectors as i think 1 of mine is blocked. So yeah if anyone has anything that might be helpful then fire away.
Thanks
David
dont do a mack and drop your pintle caps into the manifold, other than that just follow your manual as its an easy job.
Actually a good tip is to relive the fuel pressure with a ragh over the hose so it doesnt douse everything in fuel...
undo the 4 nuts holding the fuel rail to the engine and tilt it up. pull injectors out, put new ones in. probably an idea to cover up the holes to stop anything dropping into the engine. no need to relieve the fuel pressure. you can get it done in 10 minutes

thanks guys and how about putting them in do i need to vass the seals so they dont split and also the top 4 bolts are they just done up with a wrench and not a torque wrench?
was a no hassle job 20min max and now to see if there is a difference in the injectors.
AwesomeNothing's really that hard once you jump in and try it once, eh? Takes a few tries to perfect anything, but it's never as daunting as you think
Manage to get petrol everywhere? I always do![]()

Injector swaps takes 30 minutes, 10 minutes to swap, then 20 minutes to let the fuel dry off so you don't burn the car when you start it
hahahaso damn true ^_^
well played
It's kinda like changing a fuel pump, or draining an automatic transmission. There's no way to do it without covering yourself in the stuff![]()

I used to do it like you guys but id rather take my time and do it properly in this day & age.
just put some rags over the engine before you pull the injectors out of the rail and you wont need to worry about petrol going anywhere

what way are you guys doing it that involve petrol being shot at your eyes? you dont touch the fuel reg do you?

You must of done it when the pressure in the lines were minimal. If you prime the pump (or drive it then do the injectors shortly afterwards) it will squirt out. On the v8's the fuel hose is in a good spot, you can let the fuel drizzle onto the rail then you can degrease and flush it out.... On the v6 you have the fuel going in the valley and need to get a rag as suggested.
The fuel filter you cant escape really, no matter what your going to get some fuel **** down onto your face if not careful.
Well i can honestly say that there was near to no splash of fuel at all as i had the car sitting there for a day or so without driving it.
Yeah i ended up taking the injectors off the day before and then just had it ready for the next day as i was in no hurry to get it done and like i said took 10mins to put on and no fuel anywhere so pretty happy with the job.
Cant say i can feel a difference at all but the car runs alot smoother now. Hopefully will save some money on juice too but that would just be a bonus.

Hahaha nah guys, never had petrol in my eye doing injectors or fuel rail. I usually crank the car a few times with the pump fuse out, then unscrew a fuel line hose and vent it into an old water bottle or similar. Still hard to avoid getting it everywhere on the way to the bottle
The fuel-all-over-self tends to occur when doing fuel pumps. Done... four or five now I think? When you're sitting there wrestling the thing out, fuel always slaps and sloshes out the tank and all over whatever is underneath it. Which is usually me.![]()

That trick doesnt work on the v8, when i was doing the external pump on the vq i took the fuse/relay out with the motor running and was going to let it die, but it didnt it just kept idling for 10 minutes so i shut it off and just copped the half a liter of fuel run down my arm.
ok so after all the stuff i just changed my vp doesnt want to start anymore. How do i check for fault codes on the vp and will that tell me if my CAS has **** it self??
Yeah, dont do a me and pull the rail up on an angle, pull them out square.![]()
Checking for fault codes will be useless, the motor will have to be running before it will log a code, it your case it hasnt run after you put the injectors in. My guess would be 'perhaps' the signal isnt getting to the injectors, so there not pulsing.
Although any commodore injector should work in the buick motor.....
It cant be anything else unless youve knocked somethign off, or something has failed unexpectedly hich isnt related to the injectors.
car was running fine after the injectors were installed was having a little problem before i changed them just thought it was an injector blockage and i found some injectors for sale so i thought why not change them. The engine light stays on as i try an crank the car over but just will not fire. Have gone through all the obvious stuff so now i will have to look at something else.
can u replace vp 6 cylinder injectors with vp v8 injectors ?? or do u need to get the computer remapped or something???
you dont need a remap, put a set of reconditioned mitsubishi v6 injectors in as they have a better spray pattern and flow more than holden standard injectors.
if your changing the amount of flow youll need a tune .

at my gf's house on her pc-
Ive had mitsu injectors in my stock v6 without a remap and it worked fine, if you wanted the most power you can possibly get yeah get a tune but its not compulsory to get the memcal remapped.
