Default Urgent Help Vaccum Leak

Guys,

My vp wont start and i can hear a vaccum leak coming from somewhere. It is to hard to tell from where but i was able to locate the line that has come off but cant find where it has come off. The line comes from the transmission and works it way up behind the manifold, but the broblem is where i have found the line there is nothing to connect it to. Can anyone help?

Thanks
Dave

The only hose that I can think of that comes from the transmission is a breather hose which doesn't connect to anything, just sits in the chassis rail.

If the car cranks over but doesn't start, it won't be a vacuum leak anyway.

Is there a 'Check Engine' light on with the ignition on, engine stopped? If not, the anti-theft system is suspect.

Are there any fault codes - see the 'How To' section for how to extract codes if you don't yet know how)?

Is there spark from each coil?

Is there an injector pulse?

Can you hear the fuel pump operate for a couple of seconds when the ignition is first switched on or when the fuel pump relay is bypassed (at the relay block under the bonnet, ignition on, terminals for the 87 and 30 pins for the relay jumpered together with a short length of wire)?

That's the simple first checks.

Have played with everthing you have listed and all is fine. Cant check for fault codes as the engine will not start now.

You don't have the engine running when checking fault codes, you just need to turn the ignition on.

Yeah sorry thought i read it the other way around somewhere.
Did the fault code test and sure enough it was what i thought it was going to be code 44 crank angle sensor. The line that is missing is the breather for the tranny. As for the vaccum noise is actually the fuel purging.
