scrubing on inside rear wheel well please help
My vp calais is lowered and iv got a set of 17 by 8 inch vy ss rims on it and there's alot of scrubing on the inside wheel well so im barely getting any mileage out of the tires not to mention the horrible noise it makes when it scrubs. I dont have a camber kit would that help? any idea's appreciated.
thanks.

gdai mate, ive got a vp calais aswell on 18"s, and my inside tubs are scrubbed out tha ****ter!
its bcause the vp calais is a different offset to all other model commodores, so tha stock rims have no probs cause there made for that offset, but tha vy ss rims are obviously made for tha vy offset.
Couple of things u can do, u can eitha buy wheel spacers (round 6mm or bigger) and chuck those one, though u then need longer wheel studs, to give enough thread to screw onto, or u can buy vr/vs hubs and put those on as there tha normal offset

You will need your rear guards rolled if they havent been done already.

is it one side that scrubs?
when you lower it the camber has to be adjusted so the wheels sit square. If you have not done this then your rears are at an angle and that would contribute to your hassels.

Is your car IRS? If so, get a camber kit fitted. I have VY R8 rims on my Vp SS, with King Ultra Lows in the back, and I have not had one problem with the tyres scrubbing.

yeh i got a vp ss an when i put internationals on it, it scrubbed pretty bad on the inside at the back. This may sound bad an alot of people may disagree ... but it works an no-one would ever know. Take to the inner guards with a small mash hammer, an slightly push in the area thats rubbing. You will see the tyre marks on the guard, so just focus on those areas. Try an keep it even an flat, i only spent about 10min on each side of mine, an they havnt rubbed since. Simple cost free DIY i figure. Im running ultra lows in the rear with no camber kit ... so its kinda a worst case for me, but its worked a treat. An no1 is ever ganna see it unless they pinch ya wheels lol.

How about getting wheels with the correct offset for your car?

Hillerus is right, when you lower an IRS rear end you change the geometory of the suspension. Think of it as a pivot, the more you move the outside point up the more you will wear the inside of your tyres, you will need a camber kit to offset your lowering kit. If it was a solid axle rear end you would have no problem at all!
Cheers................Pete!

yeah got irs. scrubs on both sides. i had super low springs in but just recently had it raised about an inch so if there's no hassles with rubbing after installing a camber kit than that's probs the way ill go.
would it still be worth getting vr/vs hubs?
thanks guys much appreciated

a kit should work fine, ive never seen a irs car that bad your car must of been LOW! what brand springs do you have? if there generics then the coils wont be as thick as the proper performance springs and will compress easier.
