think the wiring behind the cluster has to be redone. probly easier to just get an aftermarket tacho as long as there isnt a shift light if its an auto lol

yep the wiring between the vn/vp and vr/vs are different (from what i recall, the VN and VP are interchangeable, as are the VR and VS.

Note also that the v6 tacho is different to the v8 so you have to make sure you buy the right one.

i am pretty sure both differences are able to be overcome, but they are different so they arent a straight swap... pete

no..... the vr/vs tacho cluster IS NOT interchangable with the vn/vp...

my mate did this and fried the vr tacho dash in his vp...poooof..lol. big time smoke show in his car.lol.
there is something to do with the way it is wired up in the back of the cluster..

u can use a vp cluster in a vn, but not a vr/vs..
    hope this helps..

It is very easy to modify the dash to suit.
Tack your old vp cluster out and and lay it face down beside the vr one. You will notice the the pin outs on the connectors ar different.
Now remove all the light bulbs and undo the bolts and screws on the back.
You have to remove the green film of the back of the vp one and fitt it to the vr cluster.
They have all the wiring on it for the tacho allready.
You will need to push a couple holes in it to suit the new gauges, then tap up the old holes and do it all back up.
Now take the fronts of both clusters and swap them over as the warning lights are different to.
My vp has a vn tacho and back panel in a vs cluster housing with vs speedo temp and fuel gauges and all working well.
