so i finished painting my new rear calipers and tomorrow i'm going to chuck them on and bleed the system. it was recently flushed when i had new front pads and discs on the front, so it doesn't need flushing again.
what's the best fluid, and can i mix them (like top up what's in there from brakes plus with new fluid)
nb: i'm not really keen to reflush the system because i'm likely to take the fronts off next week to paint them too, so they'll be getting more new fluid in there then.
i would give it a flush after u do the fronts but for the mean time i would try and use the same brand fluid that u used last time you flushed them
i was hoping i'd be able to get away with using any old brand to add to it, just cos brakes plus did the flush and i got no idea what they used.![]()
well in that case id use any just for now but would flush it out after you are finished with the painting just to be on teh safe side![]()
brake fluids are made to a specification dot3 or dot 4. Just try to use what is specified for your model.
The main thing is that it's fresh fluid as old fluid soaks up moisture and rusts the inside of the system and can also boil under heavy braking which causes your brakes to fail.
