hey i was wondering if anyone could help... my gearbox is pretty much revving out to 5000-5500 rpm in 1st gear before it changes to 2nd *wen its cold, i can throw it in neutral then bak into drive and it will change the gear before it gets to that point, i have to also to do that to get into the last gear... apart from that its ok it doesnt slip or make any random noises.. ive heard it mite be a pressure problem cause thats how it changes the gears? i herd it mite be a vacuum problem? and i herd the valves mite be stuck open from debris? if anyone can shed any light on the matter or point me in the right direction that will help alot cheers![]()
check the colour of the oil.
red is good, most likley not a slipping clutch pack.
brown bad slippage or you been towing something to big
black well nothing good is black.
a oil change is a good indicator as you can cut the filter and look for metal bits in it.
I know on the older autos that they would not change till they warmed up if they had been over heated as the seals would harden.
sounds a bit like that.
