    Default brake line bolt.

so i just redid my calipers on the back (new set cos one was seized), and was tightening up the brake line hose bolt, and the head sheared off!
fortunately i managed to get it out with locking pliers, and i had another one on hand from an old caliper set i had, but when i took them both off again to change the washers (they were weeping too) i noticed one of them looked like this.

    (note the cross drilling hole)

as you can see, i think there's a bit of shear in the other one too.
so im looking to get a new pair of them, so i can tighten them to **** without worrying about snapping the head off.

where can i get a pair, holden said they don't carry the calipers anymore, so i doubt they'd have the bolts.

should be a fairly standard part at most brake shops, maybe head down to a "brakes+" store and ask them... Ill tell you a story because im procrastinating finishing my SQL assignement.

While building my car, the VP, i had to undo most of the brakes because of screwed lines. So that meant undoing all the solid 10mm? nuts.. now, what i found is that they dont seem to line a 10mm open ended spanner... so much so they seemed to just melt away while undoing.. everyone... i had to multy grip them all to get them off(and back on, **** re-flange-ing all my lines)... i was under my car trying to get one off, it was 4am, i had tried everything, was patient, strong, subtle, aggressive, angry, ****ed and then in tears... WORST SYSTEM EVER! but yeah, they shear more than moutain sides...

But either wreckers(which will suffer from el-shear'o issues too id imagine) or brake supplier or outlet.

They don't need to be tightened excessively, hence the cross drill, i think they refer to them as banjo bolts. If it's weeping, then it needs checking out, not tightening up usually.

They twist like that because people don't replace the washer, they just get a bigger spanner.

azkwzere, there are proper tube nut spanners, they are a single hex ring spanner with a piece if the ring cut out to go over the pipe.

I got a set of flare nut spanners and they round of the bolts to.
sometimes vice grips are the only way to do it.

finally got the local holden spares desk to get them, ended up having to go in there after trying to describe them over the phone (they didn't have them listed as 'banjo bolt' and had no idea what i meant. they were claiming they were attached/unremovable from the hose.

this is as bad as when i was chasing a caliper mount bracket, and they were asking me what does the caliper mount on on a non irs!

I went to my local auto parts store (Outbound Auto) they had them as single parts and they are in the caliper rebuild kits. You shouldnt have any problem finding some new ones.
