Default I need help deciding please help

Hi Guys, I need help deciding whether I should swap my VP V8 Calais, it has HSV 18" VY Clubby wheels, New shocks and springs all round, mint interior, mint exterior runs well, foamy chip, and exhaust and cam.

The car Im thinking about swapping for is a VN Calais, V6 S1 Turbo , 5Spd, which sounds awesome at start, but it has a munted crank seal, from the sounds of things the engine might have buggered rings as it only started leaking since the turbo conversion went on. It has dished 17's lowered, exhaust clutch, t3/4 turbo, b.o.v, F.P.R, 440cc Injectors, 2bar tune and map sensor, F.M.I.C etc.

Please help me as im not sure whether this is a good idea, whats worth more, I know that i'll have a bit of work to get the VN running but thats no problem to me.

No decision really - you can keep your virually bullit proof VP or buy a pos that has the crap thrashed out of it. I'd put money that the motor will only be the start of the problems with the VN. If you want a turbo 6, I'd start with a stocker that you bought from grandpa on the way to the morgue and start from there.

Do NOT even consider the v6, as you say the car you have is in mint condition. It seems to me the only reason you want it is because of the T, just do that too your 8 if you want one.

I think the other guy swapping is just trying to get rid of his POS

Hahaha, who in their right mind would swap that VP for a pos VN that will probably be nothing but trouble?

Gotta agree with the others mate, that's not a bad little unit you have for yourself. Keep the 8

Yeah i would have to agree with the others. Your VP calais has loads more features than the VN calais. Yours also has the V8 engine and looks to be in much better condition. Just cos it has a snail on it doen't mean a thing, and getting it roadworthyed with be a pain, as it will most likely have to have half that stuff removed to pass.
Keep the V8, it's a better car and is worth alot more.

awesome guys, told the guy don't worry, gonna keep my car, it wasn't really the turbo I was after just the fact of something different, but since i'm keeping it ill go the 355 way with the right work i'm thinkin 250rwkw, and na i'm not gonna go LS1 way keep me the cast iron toughy LOL.

As for the getting a VN Turbo roadworthy no problems here in NZ, don't have emission standards, power output or that sort of requirements, e.g I could put 24" rims on my mums charade if they'd fit.All ya need over here is a certification, which is pretty basic really just checking nothings gonna fall of and it wasn't done poorly.

But yea time to keep the V8 and here comes the 355.

good choice keeping the vp, the reason that the rear main seal is leaking on the vn is the pcv valve isnt redirected to before the turbo, meaning that the sump has been boosted. Something that isnt done right to start with is going to be nothing but trouble, who knows what else they didnt do right..
