    Default T5 Top boot retainer?

My top boot on the gearstick keeps popping up when going to 5th and reverse...there are 8 grooves around the base of it (2 each side) and was wondering where is this meant to clip into? It doesn't want to stay into the console. I think I'm missing the retainer so it can clip in.
I saw a bloke selling retainers for this I think a little while ago on ebay but can't seem to find it anymore.
    Do Holden still stock this?
I can't get them from wreckers because they all want to sell it with the conversion...

    Any suggestions?
    Maybe make my own?
I think the retainer is meant to clip onto the boot then clip onto the console...

    Cheers for any help.

the gear shift boot has a bit of plastic that you can get from holden spares, don't have the part number on hand, cos mines in my car, but i had to get one from holden a month or so back.

anyway, this bit of plastic fits onto the rubber of the boot, and then put the console bit down over the boot and the plastic bit helps lock the boot to the console. it's a tight fit and you kind of have to pull the boot from one side while you push it to clip on the other.

pm me if you need the part number.

Yeah, even with the plastic retainer they sometimes slip up. A good coat of araldyte fixed that up for me, though

yeah, the plastic thing was slipping down, off the boot, then the boot could come up. A bit old, not gripping so well.

I bought one a week or so ago from a guy on ebay, who still has some now.

Buy it now of $20, and postage of $5.50. I bought a few things off of him, so i can safely recommend him.
