I have VN V6 and have a Wade 1250 cam and i am trying to dial it in and have no idea what im doing haha,
I have turned the Crank to TDC and i put the cam in and lined the dots to the balance shaft and then pu the cam key on and lined the dots up on the cam and crank to TDC, i ahve a magnetic dial gauge and i hooked it all up put the lifter in and the rod, and then the dial gaunt set at 0-deg, thats as far as i got any more help i have the spec sheet aswell but cant find much on it, i've never done one before, any help is great thanx.

This link has been quite usefull today
Degreeing a Camshaft by Camcraft Cams
I have talked to some people and some people say i cant use the stock gears and timing chain and others say i can just turn it over a tooth.
also figure this 1 out, i took it to a performance place and they said i cant use the same gears but if i wanted to i can take the motor to them and they can put it all at TDC and have the timing chain on and thats it for $200??? its already set at TDC i can do all that crap myself not gonna pay $200 for them to stand there and look pretty.
I talked to another person and he help me understand how to do it so i will have a crack at it, and he said if i cant get it right he will come around and dial it in for me for $80-$100 so thats not real bad i hope i can get it going right. also thanx for the website foamy.

Be kneez you need a multi keyway timing set, Dail gause in thou (or convert mm) and a degree wheel. Read the link greenfoam posted and that should help you out. There's another way that not really discuused on that site is lift @ TDC it really depends on what your cam card specs give you. Ive just finished doing mine on the motor im building. if you need anymore help let us know

Yes you can put it at standard timing marks but you just wont get the full potential out of it. It wont be hard later on to buy the stuff and take the timing cover off and re do it. It's just better to do it all at the one time

that may work, I dont know how much each tooth is worth but your going to need a degree wheel to get it right
How'd you go on the stem seals? did you read my reply to that thread?

I borrowed a crow cam degree wheel and magnetic dial gauge with mm and thou.
Is there anychance that it could go agaist me and i could loose performance? i will save some pennys and get an adjustable one and put it in.
Do you think it is still safe to put it in with out it havning been dialed in? or should i just put the bog stocker back in it.

It will be ok in the stock position nothing will break or anything like that. If it is retarded a little you will loose bottom end power but gain some up top, if it was a advanced a little is will be vice versa. So in essence I'd say you'd be somewhere in between it will still be better than stock camshaft. Does the specs list the lift @ TDC? what is the duration at 50 thou? does it say how mcuh advance there is on the cam?
If i were you instead of mucfking around with the chain i'd just leave it in the stock timing position Then when you save enough get a gearset and dail it in properly
EDit stock actually has no advance i was reading my sheet wrong Sorry

Thats smaller than the stage 3 crow i put in... is that the one you had for sale? put it in then check you lift at TDC 31 thou is minmum spec you can be up to 5 thou higher. So id say if its somewhere in the 20-40 range it should be ok
