Wrote the front of my VN off, getting it repaired.
With the VP calais the headlights and grill are smaller then on a VN, so is the bonnet longer or is it to do with the front bumper sitting higher up?
In case you havent guessed, im looking to put a VP Calais front onto my car. Is it a straight swap? I know to put a VS front on a VN you need to make modifications but assumed its different for a VP.
You will need:
: VP quarter panels
: VP quarter panel indicators
: VP front bar
: VP grille
: VP headlights
: VP indicators
and I think that's all![]()

So that will go straight onto a VN front? I know that the Bar Slides and Bar Brackets are different VN to VS, but im guessing they didnt change VN to VP?
Just getting this sorted now as i have a week to get all the parts together.
Morton got it in one. You can leave the 1/4s as VN, and use VN indicators, but it will look stupid bacuse there a different angle to the headlights.
If its the +6 your fixing, just leave it as a VN. Don't ruin the look of it.

Ill be seriously looking to restore it back to a VN, but im on a time and budget restraint thats all.
vp's are nicer.
check out my thread in MY RIDES.... i own a vn, and ive had a vp conversion front and rear.. looks heaps better than the vn...
and u can use the vn bonnet, and boot lid, u dont have to use the vp rear garnish, u can use the vn one instead, unless u want the stylish look.lol.
its easy done bro.
have fun.. if u have problems, just send me a pm...
cheers
The only issue is the panel beater says it should all be easily repaired, my friend who is a mechanic disagrees and says the rails are too bent and that straightening them creates a weak spot which will cause my car to become a quote unquote death trap.
Anyone ever encountered something like this?
hehe dont look under my bonnet then. lmao.
just ask morton how bent my radiator support panel and chassis rails are. lmao
i cant be bothered to fix it yet, as it will cost me over $200 to realign that section, so i went and got the vp front, it is slightly noticable, but not to the trained eye. lol.
Well im getting it all straightened, its more the fact i have a few people telling me its a waste of money and my car will be unsafe etc etc. Im getting it properly worked on, and its cheaper then lashing 4k on another car which is why im doing it.
For the record im actually having the radiator support cut off my car and another fixed on. Trying to find the VP/VN parts for cheap because i have to pay for paint and labor costs and a reo bar etc etc.
Thats after removing the front bumper.
Thats after removing the bonnet, guards etc etc and after my friend cut a fkn hole in the Rad support. Thankfully the thing needed to be replaced or id have been dirty.
Apologies for the big pics the friggin' thing wont resize them for some reason.
Hard to tell with the rails. At worst you can always un pick it and weld in a new one - a job that any competent panel beater should be able to do easily. Doesn't look like a hard hit to me.
Reaper
Paradox's SS wasn't even close to that bad and he chucked it in the tip but it was fixable with a bit of time and stretching/straightening. Depends how bad you want the car I guess
ohhhhhh dam.... my car isnt as bad as that but... it looks like an easy fix to me also..
any panelbeater should be able to do the job for ya... good luck with it bro..
Well i think he said it was pushed across 6cm or something, cant remember. I found a SV3800 so i think ill repair the +six and give it to my little brother for his 21st this year, arent i a good brother
And ill look into replacing and reinforcing the rails, as that was the only thing causing a safety concern for me. Many thanks for the advice here guys!
