    Unhappy Vq vrs tree stump

    g'day all.
I have a 1990 VQ Statesman that I just smacked into a massive tree stump (thank god it was rotted out ) so seen as a 1.5 tonne machine heading 100 kph into a HUGE stump has surprisingly minor damage. Front bumper, lights and bonnet are the only things I can tell need replacing.

Why im posting is I dont know alot about my holdens and I was just wondering if there is other models out there (vn, vp etc) that I can get a second hand bonnet off, Im not too sure if they would fit because of the grill or any other reason. The grill is broken but if it is compatable with other bonnets I could get away with it.

So sorry for the newbie question but there isn't alot of VQ parts in my area. Any help would be much appreciated.

    -Sam

Headlights you can source from any VN or VQ. VP DON'T fit, as they are a different angle.

Not 100% sure on the bonnet, although i've heard people saying they've put a stato grill on their normal bonnet. If this is the case, VN and VP are the same, so either of those will work.

VQ bumper is your only option, the other bars are a different shape. There shouldn't be a shortage of VQ parts. There was one in the parts for sale section a while ago which had all the parts you need, not sure if its been sold now (pretty sure he didn't want it long, and was taking it to the crusher)

Actually not so. ALL VQ headlights and indicators are the same. The only difference for series 2 is the addition of the side indicators above the badge.

my old vq was a s1 and had the vn headlights with the shorter indicators and 2 of my mates atm have s2 vq's and both theirs have the vp style long indicators, one is a hsv enhanced and the other is just a standard s2

*edit* i cant seem to find any vq's with the vp indicators but its just weird that 2 of my mates both have one lol, i will be seeing one of them in the next couple of days so i will get a photo

They are modified then. Factory VQs for series 1 and 2 had the same grill/headlights. The only difference is the guards to allow for the extra indicators. I just double checked, and no less than all 10 i looked at all series 2 have the same as series 1.

Its a simple bolt on mod, so obviously both your mates cars have been in smashes, and it was easier to repair with VP guards.

vn and vp bonnets are the same.
I used a vn bonnet on my vp a while ago.
so probably vn lights and vq bar to get it back together.
