it had just started to rain so I ran outside to put the windows up on my vp wagon and found that the rear window was smashed outwardsthe only thing I can think is the wind which was gale force has pressurised the car and blown out the rear window but that is really wierd, has this happenend to anyone else and can anyone tell me how hard it is to replace the rear window and what there worth second hand

holy crap dude, but im sure the probabilty of gale wind building to that extent is so low....
never had to fix one on the wagon but the sedans are easy enough, as for cost it really depends on how much the wreckers feel like hurting you a back window for my vn sedan was 60.00 for the small one.....one a wagon however i expect it will be much more

was it the tailgate or rear side window??? if its a rear, around $50-100 down here in brissie/ipswich wreckers...
side, around the same, or less, depends if u take it out, or they do it for ya..
also, vn wagons are the same windows all round, might be cheaper to get a whole tailgate if u dont want to take the glass out yourself..
it was the tailgate novus wants $220. but ive given the wrecker i go to so much trade i think i'l ask for a favour i can take it out and i've fitted a camira rear window so i hope its pretty much the same thanks dudes
mate you will get a tailgate with glass for around $120-150.
only about $30 more then the bare glass.
We get young buggers around my area that do dumb stuff like smash windows & kick 1/4 panels all the time then they come back the next night & raid your car little c**ts
WTF????? the little bstrds.. if they did that to my car, id be sittin out of view with a baseball bat, and a trolley bar....
someone did that to my brothers vr sedan.., smashed the rear 1/4 in the door, took of with his $200 amp that was bolted to his back seat, and ripped tha face of his $900 headunit also.
i then found out who it was, and went to thier door and broke their fkn necks... they never touched mine, my brothers, and even my mates cars again...![]()
it wasn't a kid with a rock i live on a dirt road off another dirt road and the window glass was on the driveway and not in the car you guys need to move out of your **** suburbs because the thought of sitting up all night with a baseball bat in case some one happens to vandilise my car doesn't turn me on at all thanks for the practical advice but the rest of you need to chill out
I have had this happen to me twice, First time it was caused by the window demister shorting and shattering the glass, ( the window had two massive holes it it.) the second time i did it by accident, i was removing a bloodly sticker with a razor and scraper and it must have put a fine scratch in the window which was deep enough to cause the window to become weak.
was the glass outside the car or inside cause you might be on to something with the short in the demister my window had one big hole in the centre
Rust around the trim can do exactly this. Even a small amount. Over a period of time it expands ever so minutely and puts pressure on the glass.... Kaboom! The wagon we saw had most of the glass on the outside of the vehicle.
