the most u would possibly be able to fit would be either 8" or 8.5" at the max..
    in either 18' or 17's..

i have 18x8.5, and they dont scrub on my 2,5" lowered vn sedan..

I've got 19x8s or 19x8.5s or something on mine, 245 tyres, deep dish not sure on offset. No scrubbing - standard panhard rod (!!)

Only rubbing is SLIGHT from the front when turning sharply, rubs on a small patch of inner guard liner

    If that helps...

You can fit 255 tyres (on a 19" rim with a 30 profile) on a VN with guards rolled and adjustable rear panhard rod. Must stress the 30 profile though.

19's are almost legal now I should ring up and ask if its changed yet. But it doesn't sound like you're going for a legal tyre combination anyway.

Nobody, but it seemed like you don't mind if its legal or not and when you're asking what the widest sized rear wheel you can fit would suggest going to like a 255+ sized rear tyre which is quite hard to get in a legal size.

Legally, in Australia, the wheel tyre combination must not be more than 1 inch wider than the widest manufacturer supplied combination for that vehicle and the total diameter must be the same. So, you can put 21 inch rims on if you want but you'll need a really low profile tyre that has the same load rating as the standard combination. Of course, you can put on whatever will fit if your happy to run the risk of the cops putting you off the road if it's not 'legal' :-P

For an 18" Wheel a 255/35 or 265/35 is legal. I thought you were going 19" wheels though (which makes it 255/30 R19).
