Question Am I the most responsible VN owner?

I installed better brakes on my V6 without any other significant upgrades planned... I installed the s2 bellmouth on my s1 motor, where others seem to enjoy removing it... and I never ever thrash my car, or even put it above around 1/3 throttle..

Does this make me the most responsible VN driver?

just means we would not want to buy your car...sometimes you have to give an engine a bit so as to keep it alive.

leaving it to long will basicly casue the car to go to sleep then when you attach a trailer or try to overtake you find the power is missing becasue the ECU thinks it cant do it.

DVSV8: Neither do I, I just thought of it last night when I was bored.

arklayctl: whatever you reckon. Nothing to do with the "ECU thinking it can't do it." They don't think in VNs, they recall numbers and tell the coil packs when to fire.

Mate it has to have the odd thrash to clean it out and reduce that nice thick glaze in your pots.
Reminds me of when i was young and lived in the country.
Farmers would sell there diesel cruisers with low k's and people intown would buy them and blow the injector pump in weeks due to them never having been driven over about 50km hr.

What brakes did you install? If you installed twin pot calipers or similar without upgrading to a 1" master you may be doing yourself a dis-service as excessive pedal travel may actually degrade braking performance. In that respect you may actually be a very irresponsible VN owner.

Ps. Don't mind me - I'm just bored and had a few cans whilst waiting for the other half to get ready to go out. Figured I may as well make somebody elses day too

    He installed slotted rotors.

The fact that the car still goes with the amount of kms on the clock is amazing in itself.

Cars being driven by people with feet that should belong to their grandma are the reason you see so many cars broken down on the freeway. They're just not used to the revs and a trip that should be relatively easy for a car ends up killing it.

LOL, and he only installed them on the front.
I'd hardly call it a brake upgrade, nor would it increase safety by that much.
Our VT has slotted all round, doesnt make us any more responsible.

lol yeah it's also the reason my car's still running well, 5000km oil changes and hardly ever having been thrashed

Tom_1569, I wasn't bragging, didn't say they were awesome, I was just musing whilst bored on the highway home the other night.. do you always laugh at people with slotted rotors or was your head not working right this evening?

Old girl does pull up a bit better btw, cheers not_an_abba_fan

The most responsible VN driver would be the one who leaves the car at home and catches public transport

saves fuel, wear & tear, time and sometimes lives

yeh cuz lyk 8000rpm evrywhere is lyk soo sick for da car!
they like to be driven, not thrashed... thrashing is when you drive the car to the point where it will blow up, driving the car hard is another story...

Yeah I would but public transport comes nowhere near my house, I live up in the hills. Buses don't come this far. Nearest public transport is Midland, 25km away, where I work anyway.

Paradox, I don't even drive it hard, no harder than it takes to get up hills anyway, it's really tired now so I like to think of it as retirement... timing chain is overdue as well, I'd just rather not put undue stress on the whole lot

I think it makes you boring not responsible sorry.

Im responsible but i drive my cars hard when theres hardly anyone around, ive had 1 major accident (which i got hit behind) and ive gained 4 demerits in 6 years. im responsible but also lucky.
theres no point babying a vn they arent worth it. oh and if your car is gonna fall apart why not run it completely into the ground? vns are tough mine had a ****ed coilpack and starter motor for over a month but yet it still started and got me everywhere.

You want to be a responsible driver : dont speed in the wet, take corners at too much speed/rpm and dont tailgate people thats all you need lol
