top speed? how fast have you got your vn/vp?

So i had the opportunity to see how fast i could get the old girl to go the other day (on the track of course!). Managed 206km/hr according to the GPS. I don't think the speedo is accurate enough to measure it, mine was reading significantly low above 160.

I've got a V6 VN series 2, 5-speed with extractors and lpg, though this was running on petrol.

Now this was in 4th gear, sitting up around the 5k mark on the taco (pretty close to the rev limiter, though i didn't hit it), what i'm wondering is, would it have been better to have it in 5th gear, obviously with a worse gear ratio, but at an rpm that's going to have more power? I know that peak power is somewhere around the 4k mark and wondering if i was holding it back leaving it in 4th and reving too high. It was cruising fine at 180-190 on lpg with aircon, so i'm a little surprised she didn't push a little faster, though i didn't hold it there too long. I'm not going to get an opportunity to try it out again any time soon in the foreseeable future so it's got me thinking

no one here has specified where these speeds have been reached bar the OP. personally id assume theyve all been done on back roads or quiet highway stretches, but they all couldve been at a track day or anything.

240-245km/h @ Barbagallo Raceway, Perth. Hit that speed just before Ford Fast Brake.

While the speedo only goes to 220km/h, I knew I was bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th, wasn't too hard to work out how fast I was going with some maths.

6000rpm, 3.9 diff gears.... Not going to get anymore out of it without changing diff gears (or whacking in a 6 speed)

Sunshine, the revlimiter is 5650, which you hit at around 130-125 in an auto V6. Why bother lying to people who own the same car and know?
