Hi guys...this one has me stumped..
Driving along a 50km street, before a 2600km journey the VN died. Started straight back up, didn't think anymore of it.
It happened more and more, on the trip. Fuel filter was replaced, because it sounds like its starving for fuel. Problem still continued. One thing I had noticed, whilst on the trip, was that I couldn't overtake anyone, nor plant my foot for hills. That makes me believe it might be a fuel problem.
Since coming back home, we've had a mechanic look at the car, who has come up with a code 33 too much voltage on the computer diags. Shortly after he first looked at the car, the coil pack went. The problem is still there. He's replaced the Map sensor, and the coil pack, and found a bad earth on the front of the engine block. I've replaced ignition leads, and plugs. The mechanic has also checked fuel flow from the pump, all seems fine
It doesn't seem to matter whether the car is hot, cold, sitting at whatever speed. But it still seems to stall. It could happen 2 mins into a trip, or 2 hours after. It sounds like it is starving for fuel. Once you stop at the side of the road, you prime it, it starts, and dies once in gear. Re-start it 2 or 3 times, and it gets you back to wherever you're going.
Any ideas, because its so random and frustrating that even the mechanic is stratching his head.
