Default battery in back of wagon

I need to move the battery out of the engine bay of my vp wagon, does anyone have any pictures of a battery in the boot of a wagon? and know what the legal requirements are? (ie sealed box) or any info i might need to do this.
    Cheers Matt

from memory, in VIC you need to have either a sealed battery type battery, or you need a sealed box with a vent to outside the vehicle (i.e. underneath the box etc)

also needs to be secured - I don't know whether being in a battery box is considered 'secure' or not though.

That sounds pretty much it and I think that it will apply in QLD too as the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP) should apply. I am pretty sure that some sort of clamp as well as the box will be necessary.

    Here: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...s_3Feb2006.pdf

2.11, page 7 National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP)

I don't know whether or not you have seen this but it looks useful:

    thanks for the links,
i think i will make a box out of stainless. Unsure where to run the wires back i can't find anywhere to run the wires through the firewall. i was thinking of running them back beside the fuel lines and coming up under the box.

might be better making it out of alloy to reduce some chance of arcing

do what the ute guys do and run the wires under the car to dummy terminals in the bay so all ur original stuff hooks to the bay dummy terminals. There was a how to guide in street commo's mag a couple of years back. looked allot easier than it sounds

yeah i was going to make some bolton type terminals for the engine bay then follow the fuel rails down to the back of the car, i made a box out of stainless last night, it looks a bit bulky but it will work, i will run the wires and bolt the box in 2nite. and try and get some pics. also looking at moving the fuse box aswell, probly just move it down to where the battery is and i should still have enough room for some pipework

You only need to run one wire, use the body of the car for the return......you've already paid for it and it will work better than any cable you can reasonably put under there.

Yea thats the ticket, in NZ the sealed type batterys (exide orbital with side and top posts) is around $280 but some places are as cheap as $220. I have one in my car(only cos my ol van didn't have tie downs or anything to tie down so when i sold that orbital went into the commy and kept it ever since.
