Sad day for the bloke across the road with is Greenfoam tuned VN, smashed into a car last night at a T section. The car is a write off for sure and the front LH side is now at a sharp angle pointing the wrong way. The little 3 week old Reno (Renault) is history too splattered all over the VN.
Driver is OK - bump on the head but both cars are a mess. The VN was doing about 5 kmh as they had just moved off the give way line. The Reno - every bit of the 50kph limit.
The Reno came around the (50 zone) blind corner way too fast and could not stop. A youngish driver showing off how good the little zippy thing could take corners. They just forgot that other people can be on the road too and did not see them comming. And what about the brakes on the Reno - did not bother to use them.
The driver will have a blood test. They went off their trolley swearing and arms waving - abuse big time.
RIP white VN - such a nice car it was too. Clean as. Not a scratch on it.

VN > renault (vp>vn :P)
will it buff out?
Theres seriously alot less VN's on the road now than their was a few years ago. Finding one in good/neat condition is getting hard.
Nope. The sub frames are @ 45 deg angle to the car.
The Reno has no front left at all. Makes the 50kph seem sus - was probably going a bit faster than that. But becuase there is no skid marks on the road it look like thay didn't make any attemt to stop at all just drove flat out into the VN - it was a very big hit. To me this shows that not all hoon drivers are in Commodores!!
Sad thing was I had just fixed all the doors and dash up for him and Greenfoam had done a tune as well - car was running sweet for the first time in a few year and he was over the moon with it - all be it lacking a bit of grunt towing the van up hill on gas![]()
She's a gonner now - destination smashed up car auction with a $300 price tag.

Sure is - the 88 Wagon is looking good for some sort of record - like last known 1988 VN still running.
Took the wagon for a quick spin to test the brakes (had the booster replaced) and it's still a rocket off the lights. Hair trigger throttle and for a stock engine. Wow it goes hard for a 6.

There was a old guy in the oldies home here with a pheonix VN (not faded at all) allways under a cover, totally mint perfect as new hardly any ks on it. About 2 years ago he went for a drive and drove out into oncomming traffic, that was the end of that VN
Hmmm see a patten here
Now all I'll be able to talk to him about is his MG and 2 Mercs. Bummer.
It was good being able to fix his car from time to time. My lad asked why I was fixing someone elses car without payment - I said because I could as my choice. Did'nt have to but wanted too and felt good to so.

I get scared everytime I take my car for a drive, I get so peeved with the traffic and how bad people drive. I drive everywhere holding my breath, it sucks.
Get a bit red in the face Mack? - other people look and think he's gunna blow - duck
Seriously I feel your paranoia. Such a great car can be lost in a flash by some mindless driver.
A freind had a red VN Aero killed by stupid old driver. (he got 10k for it as a wreck) He was really sad as he could not replace it at the time (none around for sale)

Man I noticed people in small cars thrash them way more because they take more acceleration to make the same power as a v6/8 they also make **** all noise so its hard to tell if someones revving the absolute life out it they can also get away with it more just for them reasons but if someone in a v8 accels a bit hard, doesnt speed but makes a fair noise they are a big target.
god i remember thrashin my mums echo and barely going anywhere
hmm also i decided after my old immac VC got wrecked if someone causes me to crash/write my car off. Im seriously gonna hurt them thinking there is no consequences for crashing into you and almost ending your life, even worse if you have kids or a little bro/sis, the actual car means nothing compared to human life
other day i was driving up a hill and gave it a lil, v8 exhaust so its quite loud hit 50 and some guy on the side yells out ****in wanker.
like cmon, if it was some douche in a corolla doing 100 it wouldnt have been as loud and he wouldnt have yelled. man the world is full of people that need to die...
almost got hit by a hybrid car today crossing a road. didn't hear it coming around the corner except for the loose chip it drove through on the road. scary. was a bloody learner driver too![]()

Lol, yeah, true.
But still sucks though. Shame really, but there is more and more idiots on the road everyday.

Yep that's what I was thinking. The Reno is stuffed.
So is the VN really. both chassis rails are bent as is the x member. Drivers door gap to the back door is 3mm wider as the front pillar (where the front door hinges are welded on) has moved around.
Silly tow truck driver told the owner they would repair it.
Still I swipped the memcal for the owner.![]()

Back in 92 they wouldn't have blinked in fixing a mildly damaged VN like that, bloody insurance companies and their valuationsnow they write you off for having a scratched bumper.
My Grandmother got hit in the rear wheel by a speeding XA/B/C Ford that was doing about 150 before he braked in her Camira when it was almost brand new. Hit it hard enough to put the wheel horizontal into the boot and spin the car around several times. That got repaired (touch and go even for a new car) but I will admit it allways had a few gremlins after that. Seems panel beaters don't put all the wires back quite as well as Holden do in the factory
mine suffered in order for me to upgrade my vr a little..
vn wagon.. you will be missed.
