put a new balancer and matching VP series 2 CAS on... had the same problem with my old VP
not all series 2 vps have the badge on them.
My late 92 vp has the earlier metal bracket cas and the later style balancer.
Try to move the balancer when you fit it to chech for bearing play.
Bearing play = sell asap
Baring play what do you mean by that? are you talking about end float in the crank?

it wouldant want to have much play i just rebuilt the motor board out ect
and hay pub nice Calais funny relay i own and drive a fairlane but theres no way in hell the old girl would even come close to the vp
when you got your cas were you asked for a engine number, there are 2 or 3 different air gaps on the sensors
no i wasn't asked i just asked for a series 1 cas but then again we are talking about autobahn i would like to know more please continue i dont want to have to keep throwing 44$ away
hay low vp i use to live in riverview i here redbank is finally sinking lol
ithink i might just buy a horse at least then i can just shoot it![]()

Some info to start with:

Frist VN with a VP motor was Nov 90. ( car serial No L474742)

yep cool saved that to my desk top
i dont know what id do without you guys helping me
oh yes i do id burn the thing lol oh well heres hopping that i can breath life into her again
if you use a late 93 year model VP sensor AND late 93 model balancer you wont have a problem cos they are a matched pair....then you will eliminate the chance of breaking it all together......
i know for sure its a series 1 engine thanks to 88GreenVN helping me thanks i guess i just have a bent tooth in there that i missed

Hope u get it all sorted...might see about making it up to bainsdale and see ya do ya thing.
with the cas and balancer, can u have the same problem with the Series 1 VN? I'm looking at replacing the cas hoping it will smooth out some vibrations and a mates early Calais needs a cas as well...hate to run into the same problems u are having
I had to replace CAS & I supplied the part which was correct one and when mechanic put on he did not adjust it correctly and chewed it up as I turned over the engine...
expensive lesson that one...
take your car to an auto electrician who knows what their doing and get them to do...
Apparently the CAS can be a ****ing pain to replace if you dont know what your doing.
cost me $140 to get another mechanic to do with 12 months warranty..
Vn executive 1990 200,000kms as of 13/6/08 , oil changes every 5000kms since it rolled out the factory , strut brace for hard cornering, kn pod filter, Ngk iridiums sports exhaust..what else can I say I love my holden![]()

ok i found the issue it turns out my balancer has 1 of the disruptor teeth just out of whack it only is just enough to catch the sensor but until you look really hard you cant see the difference i spose my vp would ave to be different and destroy the sensor instead of it just being faulty so the lesson here is that if the cas gets destroyed and that's why you are replacing it take special notice of the teeth that they are all aligned PERFECTLY
