    Lightbulb VQ35DET conversions?

    gday everyone

i was hoping to get some advice... ive got a mate that is really into his jap cars, he says the nissan VQ 3.5 litre engine which can come out of a 200sx, sentra etc is a pretty straight forward conversion to a vn-vp commies i love the look of my vp but a just love the feeling of a spooling turbo under the bonnet so why not join the two.. now i know its been done with the rb30 vl's simpler enough but i was hoping on getting some insight of these relativley unknown motors (to me)... any help would be appreciated

    cheers

I think your mate needs to do a little more research on his Japanese cars The Nissan Sentra is simply a foreign badge for the Pulsar, and both that model and the 200sx (Silvia) havn't received anything larger than a 2 litre donk as far as I know.

The SR20DET is a good motor, but I don't imagine it's anything remotely close to a straight swap, and it's a peaky engine - probably not torquey enough to pull a Holden rustbucket off the mark too fast in stock form.

The VQ35DE motor is used in the Infinity and 350Z.

VQ motor is a pretty good beasty, and go very well turbo, there was a drift car over here running one, and a guy in our club has just fitted one to a stagea wagon for a customer,

to be honest though, would be a better idea looking into the VH motors, the 4.1 V8 revs real nice and has pulled large numbers with a couple of turbos the 4.5 has a few problems from factory,

    quad cam v8...... mmmmm

Yea or if you want to stay V6 then the VG30DETT out of like a 300ZX fairlady would be a good one, they seem to be average in the 300ZX but i've seen plenty in jet boats making big power.

or for ease of fitment go the RB's, use a VL k frame and engine mounts and its near a straight fit

Scratch that idea, I think the Nissans swap K frames to go between the motors, but the K frames fit in all the cars. I'll ask my Silvia mate for more infos

that works for sr/ca/rb motors only because the cars use the same chassis or similar. Laurel - skyline - cefiro - crew - silvia, the v6 and v8 cars are wider and basically alot bigger so cannot just swap the crossmember, need to have custom mounts,

yeh thats the motor i meant the vq30.. v6 comes outta a nissan cima?... heres some stats i found on the motor.. their fitted to a 2001–present Nissan Cima F50

The 3.0 L (2987 cc) VQ30DET is a turbocharged version of the VQ30DE. Bore and stroke remain the same at 93 mm and 73.3 mm respectively, and it has a compression ratio of 9.0:1. it produces 280 PS (276 hp/206 kW) @6000 RPM and 285 ft·lbf (386 N·m) @3600 RPM.

sounds pretty mean to me haha
