i have been having some dramas with my wagon, for the last month, when give it full throttle it will rev to about 3000-4500 then start breaking up, i thought it might of been fuel related but yesterday it started preigniting, so i was thinking it might b CAS related, does this sould like the CAS is about to die or do they just stop working. Any ideas?
thanks Matt

yeah the CAS can cause alot of problems they die every 5 years or so I was told.
its a piece of plastic with metal sensors inside it.
it can cause stalling when hot , bad timing , bad idle etc
Check your spark plugs & Leads also could be coilpack/dfi is stuffed and cant handle the high revs.
Vn executive 1990 200,000kms as of 13/6/08 , oil changes every 5000kms since it rolled out the factory , strut brace for hard cornering, kn pod filter, Ngk iridiums sports exhaust..what else can I say I love my holden![]()

The only time I have had pre-ignition or knocking in my V6 is when the fuel pump was dying and making the engine run lean (not enough fuel pressure) under high load, high throttle.
well i changed the CAS and balancer, put in new super4 spark plugs. the pre ingition has stopped but is still breaking up under full throttle, seems to b when it gets to 6-8psi. it only does this when it warms up, if i jump in turn the key and take off, it will rev through cleanly then when it warms up it plays up.

The timing on the new engine might be a few degrees different Matt, just add some fuel and pull a few degrees out and see what happens
i tryed adding more fuel, so ill loose a few degrees and see what happens. drags are 2morrow night so hopefully that is it and it will run.

i think i have found the problem, i pulled my 2 bar map sensor off, cause i was thinking about moving it to the drivers side away from the heat of the zorst pipe. but anyway i blow into the vacum hose and the air was coming out the top of the map sensor, so i took the top cover off and it had blown the top off the little box inside, good old locktight instant adhesive fixed it for now but i will get a new one, or maybe a 3 bar.
thanks for the suggestions everyone
Matt
